Weird Skyrim Glitch Has Cow Phasing Through Horse

One player is visibly confused after a weird glitch encounter fuses a randomly spawning cow with their horse while playing Skyrim.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim, developed by Bethesda, gives players the freedom to explore the lands of Tamriel and engage in its highly detailed open-world through a multitude of quests and RPG features. Having been re-released multiple times since its 2011 debut, it is still surprising players with its quirks and peculiarities.

With the infamous “arrow to the knee” dialogue spawning countless memes since Skyrim’s release over 10 years ago, there’s also no shortage of content showing the endless bugs and glitches players have encountered. Even those that have put thousands of hours into the game can attest that the unexpected can occur at any point when riding through the Nordic landscape.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A clip has been posted to The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim subreddit by user Gatoroni showing the exact moment they encounter a randomly spawning NPC on a bridge where suddenly a cow fuses with their horse. The short clip shows the player, who is noticeably confused by the ordeal, pan the camera to investigate the strange transmogrification as the bovine can be heard audibly groaning from the interaction. Immediately after, the livestock is separated only for the cow to launch several feet away, landing smoothly back on its feet.

Other Redditors have commented on the post, with many finding the scenario hilarious. While some have praised the cow for sticking its landing, others are more impressed with the distance of the “cowtapult” and its defiance of physics.

Despite their seemingly plaintive demeanor, it seems that cows continue to be a curious specimen in the world of Skyrim. Recently, some fans of the game were left wondering why do some cows have mysterious markings within Tamriel? It would therefore be a mistake to assume all cattle encounters would be completely conventional. While only really interactable as a purchasable item in the Hearthfire DLC, the 100 Septim bounty placed on attacking one doesn’t seem too outrageous.

Glitches are par for the course when it comes to Skyrim. Whether it be Khajiit’s swimming in mid-air or aggravated giants sending players into the stratosphere, amusing bugs continue to make up much of the game’s charm. Over 10 years since its initial release, Skyrim’s legendary status is only rooted further with each players’ confrontation with humorous glitches.

The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Anniversary Edition is out now for PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
