Pokemon Fan Makes Matcha Cookies Inspired By Sprigatito

A Pokemon fan celebrates the upcoming release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet by baking tasty matcha cookies based on the Grass Cat, Sprigatito.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be debuting later this year, introducing fans to a new generation of adorable and powerful Pokemon inhabiting a brand-new region possibly inspired by Spain or Portugal. So far, only the three Starter Pokemon have been revealed, but fans have already fallen in love with Pokemon Scarlet and Violet‘s choices for an initial partner Pokemon. While fans wait for the game’s release, they have created plenty of fan art and other creative projects.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The three Starter Pokemon in the ninth generation of Pokemon games are Fuecoco, the Fire-type Fire Croc Pokemon, Sprigatito, the Grass-type Grass Cat Pokemon, and Quaxly, the Water-type Duckling Pokemon. Only the first forms of these Pokemon have been revealed, leading to fan speculation about their possible evolutions, including a Cucafera-inspired Fuecoco, a Don Quixote-inspired Quaxly, and a flamenco dancer-inspired Sprigatito. In particular, Sprigatito’s adorable appearance has led to a large amount of both fanart and speculation.

On Reddit, a user going by u/prof_rosemary shared a unique craft they had created based on Sprigatito: a cute and tasty-looking plate of matcha cookies. Made using Japanese green tea flavoring, the cookies feature a user-created design based on a pixelated version of Sprigatito’s face. Unfortunately, the user did not share their recipe, despite many commenters noting how delicious the Sprigatito cookies looked. Unfortunately, fans will need to create their own Pokemon snacks to enjoy while they wait for more news about Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Several commenters on Reddit joked that matcha, which comes from the tea plant, is a perfect choice for a creature called the Grass Cat Pokemon. Others suggested potential alternate ingredients, ranging from various edible herbs and flowers to literal grass such as what might be found in a suburban yard. Others suggested that sprinkles or candies could be added, based on the popular fan theory that Sprigatito’s final evolution might be a dual Grass/Fairy-type Pokemon.

Other fans showed their excitement for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and their enjoyment of the Grass Cat Pokemon via digital portraits, handmade crafts such as Sprigatito stickers and posters, and hypothetical second and third evolutions. Quaxly and Fuecoco have also received fan tributes, including paper-crafted Fuecoco and drawings of Quaxly made to resemble iconic Disney character Donald Duck. Hopefully, other new additions to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will be revealed soon, allowing fans to create and share even more content and projects before the games release.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will release in late 2022 for the Nintendo Switch.
