GoldenEye 007 Achievements Appear on Xbox Website

One of the most acclaimed first-person shooters of all time is GoldenEye 007 on the Nintendo 64. But despite the game’s immense popularity, it has remained unavailable on modern platforms. This is due to messy licensing issues, as the rights to the James Bond brand have bounced around between different video game companies over the years, Nintendo published the original release, and Xbox-owned Rare developed it.

There have reportedly been attempts to bring back the original GoldenEye 007, but it seems as though talks have fallen through over the years. However, it’s looking increasingly likely that the long-awaited GoldenEye 007 remaster is finally going to happen. Recently, a Rare developer unlocked an achievement GoldenEye 007, and now the full list of achievements for the unannounced remaster have appeared in an official place: the Xbox website itself.

The full list of GoldenEye 007 achievements confirms that players will have to beat the single-player levels on every difficulty, speedrun levels to unlock all the cheats, and then reach a variety of milestones in multiplayer. GoldenEye 007 was a massive multiplayer hit when it originally released on the Nintendo 64, but what would presumably set this version apart would be online multiplayer support, which could be huge for the game.

Now that it seems the GoldenEye 007 remaster is truly happening, the only question that remains is when will fans get to play it. As it so happens, the Xbox & Bethesda Games showcase is currently scheduled for June 12 at 10am PT. It stands to reason that GoldenEye 007 could be announced at the event, and maybe even surprise-launched for Xbox Game Pass. Fans will have to tune in to find out.
