Final Fantasy 7 Remake Reveals Why Certain Characters Can See Whispers In-Game

Square Enix’s Final Fantasy 7 Remake has just revealed the main reason why only certain characters in the game can see the enemies called Whispers. Being one of the new features that the development team added into Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Square Enix likely wanted to give fans some new information about the mysterious foes, especially since the sequel Rebirth is launching this year.

When the remake was first announced, long-time fans of the original game were probably curious about the new features and changes the developers would be adding. Some of the player base’s questions about gameplay and mechanics were answered when the Final Fantasy 7 Remake demo came out in 2020. However, the demo did not seem to deviate from the original storyline. Now that players have access to the full game, they are likely interested to know more about the new characters and aspects like these Whispers just to know how important their roles are in Final Fantasy 7 Remake.

On the official Japanese Twitter account of FF7 Remake, the team revealed interesting information about the game’s Whispers and why only some characters can see them in the action-RPG. According to Google Translate, the only reason that Final Fantasy 7 Remake‘s Cloud Strife was able to see the Whispers was because he came into contact with Aerith Gainsborough, who was originally the only one who could see them. The same goes for other characters in the game such as Barret Wallace and Rufus Shinra, both saw the Whispers when they came in contact with Cloud.

It is not surprising for the development team to somewhat clear the air about these mysterious Final Fantasy 7 Remake Whispers, given that their main objective was to ensure that the right course of destiny unfolds. Since the remake’s plot has already deviated a lot from the original story, it seemed only right that they play a big role in the first game of the series. However, many fans are probably also curious about how the character’s interactions with the Whispers in FF7 Remake will affect the flow of the story in Rebirth.

Nevertheless, adding Whispers in Final Fantasy 7 Remake definitely brought a new experience to the PlayStation classic. Hopefully the new features that will be introduced in Rebirth will be as interesting and also widely accepted by the game’s community. Fans will just have to wait until the sequel is released this year to find out what new things it will bring to the table.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is available on PC, PS4, and PS5.
