Destiny 2 Raid Boss Beat Using Glaives Only

Twitch streamer Gigz and his fireteam were able to defeat the final boss in Destiny 2’s newest raid with The Witch Queen’s newest weapon.

With the world’s first race now behind the Destiny 2 community, players have begun experimenting with creative and unique ways of beating The Witch Queen‘s new raid, Vow of the Disciple. Several streamers, such as Gladd, have already run the full raid with 3-man teams to challenge themselves in the game’s ultimate endgame activity. However, other streamers are experimenting with more challenging loadouts to test builds and weapon viability, and one team led by Twitch streamer Gigz was able to defeat the raid’s final boss using the expansion’s newest weapon.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Vow of the Disciple is the newest raid for Destiny 2 players to run and came as part of the game’s latest expansion, The Witch Queen. The raid sees players venturing inside the broken Pyramid in Savathun’s Throne World to learn more about the mysterious Witness and what it has planned for the Sol System. Awaiting fireteams at the end of the raid is the titular disciple, Rhulk, who seeks to break free of Savathun’s imprisonment and make the Hive god pay for turning away from The Witness.

As mentioned above, Gigz and his clan are among the many Destiny 2 players experimenting with gear and ability builds inside the raid to test effectiveness and challenge themselves with stranger loadouts. One such run saw Gigz’s team challenge Rhulk using the new Glaive as their primary weapon during the boss’ damage phase. While his team still need to use guns to get Rhulk to his damage phases, the team uses a combination of upgraded Glaives and multiple Wells of Radiance to deal the damage necessary to defeat The Witness’ devoted follower.

While impressive, this kind of experimentation by Destiny 2 players on a new raid is nothing new to the game or community. Clans have regularly looked for creative and challenging ways to face down the game’s toughest endgame activities, the most common being solo flawless runs of activities like raids, dungeons, and grandmaster nightfalls. Other streamers like Gladd, Sweatcicle, and Esoterickk are just three of the many players who regularly share these escapades online, to the amusement of the larger community.

The question now becomes what outlandish builds will players come up with next to defeat the powerful disciple at the Pyramid’s heart. Void 3.0 and weapon crafting has opened the doors to more player creativity with build-crafting, which will only intensify when Arc and Solar get similar reworks in the upcoming seasons.

Destiny 2 is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
