Destiny 2 Player Defeats Grasp of Avarice’s Phry’Zhia Solo on Their Phone

Destiny 2’s new Grasp of Avarice Dungeon is not the easiest of the bunch, and yet a player managed to solo Phry’Zhia on their phone through Stadia.

It’s been a little over a month since Destiny 2‘s 30th Anniversary Pack was released, and since then players have been engaging with the Dares of Eternity activity as well as the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon. Both new additions are great for the game because they offer a lot of loot to look forward to, and they can also be quite challenging depending on their difficulty setting and how players approach them. Grasp of Avarice offers Artifice Armor drops from its Master version, for example, making it a great way to farm for powerful loot.

Of course, gamers have also been efficient at discovering ways to cheese these activities, from the obstacle course’s guaranteed Starhorse’s Favor buff to Destiny 2 players skipping an encounter in Grasp of Avarice to get free items. Yet, other players like the Dungeon to be challenging in a different way, such as tackling it solo.

A Reddit user by the name of JiJiUrban went above and beyond, however, as they managed to solo Phry’Zhia – the ogre boss from Grasp of Avarice – on their phone through Stadia. This can be particularly challenging because Destiny 2 is not exactly a light game in terms of performance and requirements, and even though playing it through Google Stadia does help, the controls can be rather clunky to use from a phone. JiJiUrban stated that they had a controller to tackle that issue, but there was another big one in the form of their WiFi connection – or lack thereof.

The Guardian was playing Destiny 2 while on AIT for the US Army, which means there was no WiFi in their barracks, and they had to rely on their data connection, which is known for its packet loss issues. Phry’Zhia is also a particularly nasty boss where it’s easy to die while soloing the Dungeon, and especially so for Hunters, which are currently considered the worst Destiny 2 PvE class.

Still, Destiny 2 is a game where players often try to break records or score unprecedented ones, and the Grasp of Avarice Dungeon was recently completed by one-shotting the boss with the Titan’s Throwing Hammers. The same players who achieved this also managed to defeat Destiny 2‘s four Raid bosses with a total of 7 Throwing Hammers thanks to a specialized group.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
