Artist Crosses Pokemon and Tears of the Kingdom with Zonai Rayquaza

An artist combines the Zonai race from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom with a popular Legendary Pokemon from the series’ Third Generation.

An artist has mixed Rayquaza from the Pokemon series with the Zonai from The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Many players love to mix their favorite franchises together in various forms of art. Crossovers are common in video game artwork and show that many gamers possess a lot of imagination and talent.

Rayquaza was introduced to Game Freak’s hit RPG series in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The Legendary pocket monster was part of a trio that also included Groudon and Kyogre, and is meant to calm the other two when they battle each other. The Dragon-Type Pokemon has made appearances in numerous games and is being featured in the latest iteration of the franchise’s anime.

A Redditor named vinsear posted artwork that combines The Legend of Zelda with Pokemon. The piece is of Rayquaza redesigned to look like a creation that the Zonai from Tears of the Kingdom would have made. The pocket monster is now made of various segments held together by energy and features patterns on its body similar to what is viewed in The Legend of Zelda. According to vinsear, they loved the Zonai designs from Tears of the Kingdom and wanted to make a Pokemon featuring them and felt that Rayquaza fit well. It was a good choice, especially since the race used dragons in their own artwork that is seen in the game.

The work that vinsear posted currently has over 1,400 upvotes. One fan stated that this is the crossover that they needed as Pokemon and The Legend of Zelda have been the only games that they have played in the past month. One commenter called the pocket monster the Rayquaza Zonai Construct Form, turning it into a Steel/Flying-Type. They also gave it base stats along with its own signature attack called Zonai Emission. Vinsear’s artwork is a fantastic piece that fans of both The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Pokemon can appreciate.

The Rayquaza piece is not the only one that vinsear has posted on Reddit. The artist has also done other works featuring various Pokemon, including Charizard and Gengar. For the month of May, vinsear turned a number of pocket monsters into mermaids. This includes the Legendary Pokemon Kyogre, as well as Sealio and Dragalge. The Redditor also creates pieces based on other video game franchises such as Hollow Knight and Elden Ring. Their art is fantastic, and hopefully they will continue to produce works that fans of the video game community can enjoy and truly admire.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Switch.
