Apex Legends Players Believe Sentinel Still Isn’t Fixed After Recent Patch

Despite a recent patch supposedly fixing the Sentinel bolt-action sniper, some players continue to encounter problems with its charging feature.

Since Apex Legends was released in February 2019, numerous weapons have been introduced to the loot pool. Among the guns added after the release of the game were the Rampage LMG and Sentinel bolt-action sniper. One of the unique characteristics of these weapons is that they feature a charge mechanic that increases their damage output. However, this feature has been problematic for players during Season 11 of the battle royale.

Around a week ago, the developers at Respawn Entertainment decided to temporarily remove the Sentinel and the Rampage LMG from Apex Legends. This was done in order to fix an issue that allowed players to infinitely charge these guns during battle. Recently, the weapons were added back into the game via a new patch. While the developers claim the issues had been fixed, some players think otherwise.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

In a post on Reddit, a user known as Maciejakk shared a video from the firing range in Apex Legends. According to the Reddit user, they claimed that one aspect of the charge feature for the Sentinel sniper was still broken. Despite supposedly fixing the unlimited charge glitch for the weapon, another frustrating bug appeared to remain unaddressed. In a 32-second clip recorded by Maciejakk, they revealed that the charge timer for the sniper seen in the bottom right corner of the screen failed to correspond to the actual time needed to amp up the weapon. This meant that a player could unintentionally cancel a charge for the Sentinel by scoping in or firing a shot even after the charge meter was filled.

This news is doubtlessly frustrating for numerous fans, as this Sentinel bug has been a problem for a while now. Before the gun was temporarily removed, another player known as dj_b2 posted on Reddit about the glitch. While many hoped that it would be fixed when added back into the loot pool, this new video from Maciejakk seems to prove otherwise.

In addition to this glitch, players have started to report that the Sentinel randomly charges during a game. “Sometimes when I pick up a sentinel, now it just automatically charges it when I never hit the button to do so,” one player noted. Furthermore, others claimed that they had encountered this problem with the Rampage LMG. This can be annoying, as it uses up resources such as Thermite Grenades and Shield Cells that could be saved for use later in the game.

It will be interesting to see how Respawn Entertainment addresses these seemingly unresolved issues with the Sentinel and Rampage LMG in Apex Legends moving forward. Given that they recently patched these guns, it seems unlikely that more immediate changes will occur. However, if enough of the community finds these bugs annoying, it is always possible that the developers could implement a quick fix.

Apex Legends is available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
