A Zelda fan’s attempt to bring their horse into the Depths in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom ends in total disaster. Players may safely venture into the Depths after obtaining the paraglider and talking to Josha at Lookout Landing in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
The Upheaval launched landmasses and debris into the sky after Link and Zelda’s expedition underneath Hyrule Castle. This particular event also opened massive chasms, spreading the mysterious Gloom to towns and villages across Hyrule. In the aftermath, Purah assembled a research team featuring Josha, Robbie, and fellow Hylian citizens to investigate these chasms and the Depths, a massive underground area holding secrets to Hyrule’s past. Josha and Robbie guide Link into the Depths in the “Camera Work in the Depths” main quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, allowing the Hylian hero to learn about the region and activate one of the game’s first underground waypoints. A paraglider is required to safely float down the chasm and avoid damage from the Gloom, however.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom player TheSorryApologyPerso attempted to bring a horse down into the Depths, but this endeavor quickly ended in failure. First, the user built a large bridge out of nearby Hudson Construction wooden planks and a large rock that fell from one of the Sky Islands. The bridge would allow Link to ride the horse onto the rock, which is supported by an attached Zonai stabilizer device. TheSorryApologyPerso believed that detaching the rock from the bridge would allow Link and the horse to safely fall down into the Depths at a slow speed, but the rock proceeded to free fall at high speeds. As a result, the momentum quickly caused the horse to fall off the rock and despawn.
Some Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players, including Ph33rDensetsu, note that the game forced the horse to despawn during its rapid death dive into the Depths. The rock’s quick descent caused the horse to fall off before the game was able to process its entry into the Depths. Many fans believe the freefall must be slow enough for Link and the horse to remain standing on the rock as it falls into the Depths. A second Zonai stabilizer device or hot balloon are just a few potential solutions being discussed in the community for slowing down the rock’s descent.
Although TheSorryApologyPerso’s freefall ended in disaster, the experiment gives Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom players new ideas for bringing horses down into the Depths. Moreover, the discovery of a new Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom glitch could aid players in their attempts to traverse the Depths on horseback. It’s clear that the community will continue to look for new glitches and tricks for months to come.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is available now for Nintendo Switch.
