Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Perk Will Soon Be Useless

Right now, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is offering subscribers access to a MultiVersus MVP Pack – Drop 3 perk that will soon be completely useless. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is the highest-tier of Microsoft’s subscription service, but it basically pays for itself for those that take full advantage of what it has to offer.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate bundles all the games from vanilla Game Pass and PC Game Pass together, plus throws EA Play into the mix. On top of all that, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives subscribers access to all the benefits of Xbox Live Gold, meaning they can play online multiplayer and claim the free Games with Gold games every month. If that weren’t enough, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate also hooks subscribers up with perks that update regularly, though the MultiVersus MVP Pack – Drop 3 perk will soon be useless.

Available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers until April 11, the MultiVersus MVP Pack – Drop 3 gives subscribers a new skin for the original character Reindog, as well as a new ringout effect and banner. This is all fine and good, except for the fact that MultiVersus is shutting down on June 25, 2023. There are plans to bring MultiVersus back for its “full release” in early 2024, but a specific return date has not been announced at the time of this writing.

While Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers can technically still use the items from the MVP Pack in MultiVersus‘ offline modes once the shutdown happens, the game was built primarily with online play in mind. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will presumably still have access to the MVP Pack items when MultiVersus comes back in 2024, but in the time between the July 25 shut down date and the game’s “full release” return, the MVP Pack will effectively be useless.

On the bright side, there are many other perks for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers to claim right now that they will be able to enjoy for a lot longer. For example, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers have until April 5 to claim Evil Dead 2 for free, and new Peacock customers can also use Game Pass Ultimate to get two free months of Peacock Premium. This will basically let Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers watch this weekend’s WrestleMania 39 event free of charge, so it’s definitely a nice bonus for WWE fans that are signed up for Microsoft’s subscription service.
