Xbox Game Pass Confirms Another Day One Game for Later This Year

Xbox continues to make regular announcements regarding upcoming titles planned for Xbox Game Pass, including new day one releases. Outside these regular announcements, there are rare surprise announcements from developers themselves, another of which has recently cropped up. Yaza Games, which is currently working on strategy game Inkulinati, announced that it will be bringing it to Xbox Game Pass as a day one release when it’s eventually ready.

The latest game planned to launch on Xbox Game Pass is Inkulinati, a strategy game based on ink art from medieval manuscripts. Developer Yaza Games made the announcement on Twitter with a short message to its community reading, “Rejoice Inkulinati Apprentices!” It was also confirmed that Inkulinati will be coming to all Xbox Game Pass platforms. Support for Xbox Game Pass on both Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S, Xbox Game Pass for PC, and Xbox Game Pass for cloud will all be offered.

To go into more detail about what Inkulinati is, players will take control of medieval animals wielding armor, swords, bows and arrows, and more. They’ll then use these units, each with their own abilities, strengths, and weaknesses, to wage battles of unique makeup. Not only will Inkulinati have its own single-player campaign, where players take on figures including Death and Dante Alighieri in battle, but there will also be local PvP multiplayer.

The only downside of today’s announcement that Inkulinati is going to be released on Xbox Game Pass is that the game currently doesn’t have a release window. Inkulinati does have 2022 listed on its Steam profile, but it’s unclear if that remains accurate. One of the latest trailers for Inkulinati lists the release window as “This Century,” for example. In positive news, the latest production update for Inkulinati says that the game is about ready to go gold. Perhaps 2022 is still in the cards.

While Inkulinati may not be arriving in August, there’s already a solid line-up of games planned for Xbox Game Pass this month. Ghost Recon: Wildlands, Shenzhen I/O, Turbo Golf Racing, and Two Point Campus have already launched on the service. Cooking Simulator and several PC-only additions remain through the rest of August.

Some Xbox Game Pass subscribers may not be particularly excited about a new indie game announcement, day one or not. But the diversity of Xbox Game Pass’ lineup is undoubtedly one of the subscription service’s greatest strengths. Inkulinati will reach an audience it may otherwise have struggled to find, and Xbox Game Pass will benefit from that.

Inkulinati is currently in development for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
