If there’s one thing that’s a bit frustrating about Xbox Game Pass, it’s that there are so many games that it’s impossible to make a dent before some titles leave the service. In December, seven games will be removed from Xbox Game Pass, including gems like The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan and Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair. Fortunately, an influx of new titles accompany the exits, and Microsoft’s subscription service will be getting 13 new games in December.
The titles coming to Xbox Game Pass in December offer a little something for everyone, running the gamut from co-op roguelike shooter ANVIL to classic simulation RPG Stardew Valley to Lawn Mowing Simulator. The titles exiting and arriving on the subscription service are usually announced at the beginning of the month, leaving approximately 15 days for gamers to get in some intense playtime and also prepare for the newcomers.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, developed by Omega Force and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, arrived on Xbox Game Pass on December 9. It is available to play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and other devices using the Xbox Cloud Gaming service. One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 originally released in March 2020 and has since racked up a 7.8 user rating on Metacritic for the Xbox One version of the game.
One Piece has the distinction of being the bestselling manga series in history as of November 2021, and it spawned a well-received anime and dozens of video games on a range of platforms. The One Piece: Pirate Warriors series of action-adventure games integrates elements of the well-known Samurai Warriors and Dynasty Warriors games, which are also developed by Omega Force. Thus, players will wade through wave after wave of enemies, leveling up as they go. According to Bandai Namco, the formula has proven to be very popular, making the One Piece: Pirate Warriors games the most successful One Piece video game series to date, selling over 4 million copies by 2019.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 offers an alternate storyline from the manga and anime series, modifying the plot of the manga’s unfinished Wano arc to reveal what happens if One Piece’s main protagonist Monkey D. Luffy frees the Wano people from the tyranny of the pirate Kaido. The base game features 43 characters, with an additional 9 characters available by purchasing the DLC. There are also costumes for a few of the characters, which can be downloaded for free from the Microsoft Store.
One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is available on PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
