Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy Saves Carry Forward to PS5 Upgrade Versions

PlayStation announces that saves from the PS4 versions of Uncharted 4 and Lost Legacy will transfer to Legacy of Thieves Collection on PS5.

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection arrives on PS5 consoles in just a few days. Its release will give fans a couple of weeks to revisit the world of Nathan Drake, Chloe, and Nadine before checking out the long-awaited Uncharted movie starring Tom Holland on February 18. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will include both Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, remastered by developer Iron Galaxy.

For 10 dollars, players who have already purchased Uncharted 4, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, or the digital bundle containing both games can upgrade to a digital version of Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection when it launches. This means that owning only one of the games and not the other will still net players both titles in Legacy of Thieves. Those who have a copy of Uncharted 4 in their gaming library via its inclusion in PlayStation Plus last year will not be eligible to upgrade.

A FAQ on the official PlayStation page for Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection has revealed some other useful information for players looking to grab the new release, including the fact that PS4 trophies and save data can be transferred to the PS5, meaning all of those hours of hard work will not be lost when upgrading. The method involves transferring saved data from the PS4 to PS5 using PlayStation Plus cloud storage and, unfortunately, it’s not clarified whether players have to be PlayStation Plus subscribers for it to work.

For those who qualify, transferring Uncharted 4 and The Lost Legacy save data and trophies from the PS4 to the PS5 is fairly simple. Once The Legacy of Thieves Collection has been launched, players can choose the game whose data they want to transfer. Then select ‘Story’ from the menu screen, ‘Import Game from PS4,’ and then the specific save file to transfer. Once the data is imported, players should choose ‘New Game Data’ from the save screen to create a new save file for Legacy of Thieves.

Transferring save data and trophies is a great feature for players who haven’t yet finished Uncharted 4 or Legacy of Thieves and don’t want to lose progress. However, a quick perusal of social media will reveal that many gamers don’t plan to use the option. Like many games that offer PS4 to PS5 data transfers, doing so will likely create an entirely new trophy listing, and platinum trophies will automatically pop for those who have already earned them on the PS4. A large number of the comments on PlayStation’s announcement of the transfer feature are from people who wish to replay the games from scratch and earn all of the trophies again.

Uncharted: The Legacy of Thieves Collection launches for PS5 on January 28, 2022, and a PC version will be released later in 2022.
