After the 20th and final episode of the second season of the anime adaption of Yoshitoki О̄ima’s Fumetsu no Anata e (To Your Eternity), the official social media accounts associated with the series revealed on Sunday that the third season of the anime is currently in the works. The new season will be the adaptation of the manga’s “This World” arc.
The second season of To Your Eternity began airing in October 2022, running into the latter stages of the 2023 Winter season. Crunchyroll streamed the series worldwide except in Asia, and is currently streaming the English dub of the series.
While the official Twitter account for the To Your Eternity anime has dropped the news that the third season is on the way, it is still too early to know when the continuation of Fushi’s journey will be; however, if the release schedules of the first and second seasons are anything to go by, it shouldn’t be too long before broadcast information, episode count, as well as cast and staff information are revealed. The first season of To Your Eternity was released in April 2021, after being heavily delayed from its original October 2020 release due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The first season ran for 20 episodes from April to August 2021, and it was produced and animated by staff at Brain’s Base (In;Spectre; Blood Lad), with the second season animated by staff at studio Drive arriving in October 2022 and running for 20 episodes until March 2023. The opening theme for the first and second seasons was “PINK BLOOD” by Hikaru Utada, with the ending themes being “Mediator” and “Roots” by Masashi Hamauzu, respectively.
The original To Your Eternity manga, created by A Silent Voice author Yoshitoki О̄ima was first published in November 2016 in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine and is currently in its third arc, which began in January.
The first arc was published from November 2016 to December 2019, while the second arc of the manga picked up in January 2020, runnning until October 2022, the same month that the second season of the anime began airing. The manga is published in English by Kodansha USA, and is also available on Crunchyroll, which is running a simulpub of the series as it is released in Japan.
