One of the best things about The Sims 4 is how fun it is to recreate buildings and characters from life and fiction, and the variety of tools that the game has for doing so. That’s what one player did when they recreated the iconic Paddy’s Pub building from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The detailed build features both the interior and exterior of the pub, as well as the Gang’s apartments from the show, which is currently on its 15th season and has been renewed for two more.
Released in 2014 by EA, The Sims 4 is one of the most celebrated life simulation games in history, allowing players to control human characters called Sims. A core feature of The Sims 4 is its versatile building tools, which allow players to design and decorate buildings in high detail. For years, this has brought out creativity in players, who have used the tools to recreate real-life locations and scenes from their favorite shows. For example, last year, a Red Dead Redemption 2 fan recreated the Rhodes’ Parlour House, a memorable structure found in Lemoyne. In September, Pokemon fans recreated beloved locations from the original game in The Sims 4, including Pallet Town and Professor Oak’s Pokémon Lab.
The Sims 4 build was created by player Emmengard, who claims it uses no custom content. The pub is complete with neon signs, tassels hanging from the ceiling, and an eclectic mix of pictures and decorations lining the walls. The exterior of the building has also been faithfully recreated to match the building used in the show, based on the Starkman Building in Los Angeles. Emmengard went the extra mile and also recreated the main apartments that appear in the show. Charlie’s apartment is looking hectic as ever, with some gnomes added to make the room look messier in true Sims style. Mac’s bedroom is immediately identifiable with some great attention to detail; the wood paneling and near-identical standing lamp are great matches.
Reddit users reacted positively to the post in the /r/Sims4/ subreddit, describing it as “perfect” and “awesome.” This creation isn’t the only build shared by Emmengard. They’ve been busy sharing other builds on Reddit, including the apartment complex from the animated series Bee and Puppycat.
EA has been focusing on The Sims 4 for now, but that hasn’t stopped fans getting excited about the possible release of The Sims 5. It’s not clear how long it will be until they see another installment in the franchise, but it’s shaping up to be an interesting time for fans of life simulator games, with potential competition on the way with games like Paralives looking to reinvent the genre. Whatever is in store, hopefully it will mean new tools for players like Emmengard to keep making awesome tributes to their favorite shows.
The Sims 4 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
