With a series as popular as this, it’s no surprise there would be a variety of video game adaptations of the source material. A new game based on The Seven Deadly Sins has been revealed by Korean game studio Netmarble, who are also the developers of the aforementioned Grand Cross. Known as The Seven Deadly Sins Origin, it will be a sequel to Netmarble’s mobile title, where instead of it being limited to a turn-based RPG, it will be expanded to a large overworld that players can explore, as well as a new protagonist.

The game will feature an open-world that features a number of playable characters from the manga and anime, including some of the main characters from The Seven Deadly Sins. The trailer features playable versions of Meliodas, Merlin, Diane, and Elizabeth. Much like other open-world games like Genshin Impact or Breath of the Wild, the environments are varied and quite colorful, matching its anime aesthetic. This can be seen as Meliodas runs through a field while its raining, or dives underwater to find hidden treasure.

Members of The Seven Deadly Sins can be seen assisting either in combat or the overworld. For example, Merlin can cast dark spells to help ward off enemies, or Meliodas can summon Diane to create a pillar to help him reach new heights. Other gameplay mechanics such as a stamina meter while clinging to a rock face or gliding can also be seen in the trailer.

With this game being a sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins: Grand Cross, Netmarble is describing this game to have an original story that continues to expand the multiverse of the franchise. This includes introducing a new protagonist, Tristan, as he explores the continent of Britannia that has been warped by time and space. The Seven Deadly Sins Origin also seems to be heavily focused on the elements of exploration and action, as seen with the characters’ mobility options to traverse the world.

The Seven Deadly Sins Origin is currently in development for PC, mobile, and consoles.
