Strange Battlefield 2042 Bug Sees Player Trapped Inside Osprey

One of Battlefield 2042’s many bugs gets a player stuck in their Osprey’s cargo hold, right before things take a turn for the worse.

Gamers these days have become accustomed to the fact that games can launch well before most would consider them ready for consumers. When it comes to highly-anticipated titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and, most recently, Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, the buggy state such games launch in can effectively kill the hype for those who were hoping to enjoy playing them. Looking on the bright side, though, these can still provide loads of entertainment thanks to the clips players share of weird and spectacular bugs in action, and on that front, Battlefield 2042 keeps on delivering.

Now that it’s been out for a few weeks, it’s safe to say that DICE’s latest has earned a spot in the pantheon of messy, hype-killing launches. To the developer’s credit, it has been slowly but surely patching Battlefield 2042 to iron out the most detrimental issues, but it looks like the process will remain ongoing for some time. In the meantime, players continue to uncover glitches that, while oftentimes game-breaking and frustrating to experience in the moment, make for hilarious viewing in hindsight.

A recent example comes courtesy of a clip shared by a Battlefield 2042 player known as Gorilla_Munch_ on Reddit. It starts normally enough, with the player piloting an Osprey high above the battlefield, but things quickly take a turn. After switching to a gunner position for a moment, Gorilla_Munch_ switches again only to find themselves suddenly thrown into the Osprey’s cargo hold. Seemingly unable to switch back, they run around the hold for a few seconds before the Osprey is suddenly destroyed and plummets to the ground in a chaotic spin. Miraculously, though, this spinning appears to save the player as they end up clipping through the aircraft when it crashes, touching down on the ground nearby without so much as a scratch.

The last few seconds of the clip are particularly wild, with Gorilla_Munch_ tumbling inside the rapidly-spinning Osprey before their last-second save. It’s certainly not a view most players would get to see in that circumstance, and the replies to the clip make it clear that the Battlefield community is getting a good laugh out of yet another funny glitch messing with Battlefield 2042.

Despite the abundance of problems the game has faced since launch, DICE continues to work on improving it. While not every issue players have has to do with bugs and the like, as the controversy over Battlefield 2042’s Santa Claus skin can attest to, chances are it will eventually reach a state of general stability for the whole playerbase. If not, then at least players can keep looking forward to new clips of the game breaking in funny ways.

Battlefield 2042 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
