Resident Evil 4 Remake Reveals Brief Look at Gameplay

Of the many exciting titles announced this year, Resident Evil 4 remake is one that fans have been looking forward to for quite a while now. By many players’ standards, the original Resident Evil 4 is one of the most influential games ever made and Resident Evil 4 remake certainly looks to capture the essence of what made the original such a memorable experience. Now, Resident Evil fans have been given a quick glimpse of what to expect from the remake in terms of both aesthetics and gameplay.

Quite a lot of Resident Evil content was shown off in the recent Capcom showcase, including the announcement of Resident Evil Village Gold Edition, which will provide players with a multitude of new content for Resident Evil Village. In terms of Resident Evil 4 remake new information was shown off, but in a considerably smaller quantity.

A brief, five minute segment on Resident Evil 4 remake was shown via the Capcom Showcase. In it, game director Yasuhiro Anpo and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi spoke about how the remake will capture the essence of Resident Evil 4, while also bringing modernity to the gameplay mechanics. Near the end of the segment, Capcom also showed off a thirty-second gameplay clip that takes place further into the game.

In addition to gameplay, Anpo and Hirabayashi also revealed that the main enemies of Resident Evil 4, the Ganado, are making a return, but have also been completely re-designed. Along with the Ganado infected by Las Plagas, numerous iconic locations from Resident Evil 4 have been lovingly recreated using the RE Engine, such as the numerous areas of the village and the castle.

While the gameplay clip may seem a bit too short for some fans, it’s important to note that Resident Evil 4 remake is set to release next year. Therefore, it’s likely that Capcom doesn’t have enough in-game content to show off just yet. As the release date for Resident Evil 4 remake continues to approach, there will certainly be a lot more information revealed in the months leading up to the game’s release.

In any case, it will be interesting to see what Resident Evil 4 remake will ultimately look like. The remakes of Resident Evil 2 and 3 featured numerous divergences from the original games, as well as massive improvements made to active gameplay and visuals. So far, it looks like Resident Evil 4 remake will be going that route as well, but it’s impossible to know what sort of content will be cut from the original, if anything.

The Resident Evil 4 remake releases for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on March 24th, 2023.
