Red Dead Redemption 2, like many Rockstar Games titles, was widely praised when it released. Its open world, captivating story, and beautiful visuals stunned players and continues to keep them coming back for more.
For many of these players, it’s the little details that keep taking them by surprise and encourage them to come back. Even years after Red Dead Redemption 2‘s release, minor details take players by surprise, like individual shards of an exploding fire bottle, or the dilating of Arthur Morgan’s pupils when he’s in certain lighting conditions. However, not every minute detail is necessarily a feature; like with any game, some minor details appear to have been overlooked.
In this particular instance, the oddity was brought to light by a user on Reddit going by EDaggersV. They shared a profile shot of Arthur Morgan sitting at a barber shop, where an issue with his hairstyle and facial hair quickly becomes apparent. As the user points out, Arthur’s beard and sideburns don’t actually meet up, with a small gap between them on the side of his face, and the alignment not quite matching, either.
Fellow fans in the comments seemed similarly frustrated by the realization, although most of the comments were made in jest. Some complained that the game was ruined in its entirety for them, and others joked about how Rockstar Games overlooked something like this. Most, however, were just surprised that they’d never noticed this particular issue, and complained that they couldn’t unsee it anymore. Thankfully, the issue can become negligible depending upon the length of Arthur’s facial hair, as well as the hairstyle chosen.
Of course, the reality of the situation is that this is a tiny detail that isn’t harming the gaming experience. It’s particularly understandable considering that there are multiple hairstyles to choose from for Arthur. On top of that, Arthur’s hair changes length during the course of the game. With so many different aspects to consider, it’s not a big surprise that one particular haircut combined with facial hair doesn’t quite match up.
Fans of nearly any other game might not even blink at this kind of oversight, as tiny details like these are common issues in games. However, it’s Red Dead Redemption‘s tiny features that help to make this particular cosmetic issue stand out. When players are still discovering things like unique variations of cutscenes or details that make horseback riding super realistic this many years into the game’s release, Red Dead Redemption 2 usually surprises players with attention to detail, not a lack of it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
