Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Fan Recreates New Pokemon as Gold and Silver Style Sprites

The next few months are shaping up to be an exciting time for gamers as a number of AAA titles are approaching their release dates. Among the upcoming games receiving a lot of hype are Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. While there are still some details about the Gen 9 Pokemon games that fans are waiting to find out, a variety of new pocket monsters have already been revealed in several trailers.

Since the initial reveal of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet back in February, the list of confirmed new Pokemon for the titles has grown. While the starters, Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco, initially garnered a lot of attention, several other pocket monsters have caught the interest of gamers, such as Pawmi, Lechonk, Fidough, and Smoliv. In addition, the box Legendaries for the games, Koraidon and Miraidon, have been revealed. Unsurprisingly, many gamers have been making fan art based on these new Pokemon, and one fan recently decided to make an image that gave these Gen 9 creatures a distinctly retro twist.

In a post on Reddit, a user known as The_Internet_Goblin shared a picture of a collection of sprites they had created based on the art style of Pokemon Gold and Silver. Specifically, this artwork included some of the new pocket monsters for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. In the image, the artist managed to include retro looks for the starter Pokemon, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxely. In addition, Cyclizar, Smoliv, Pawmi, Lechonk, Fidough, Paldean Wooper, and Cetitan all received classic-style designs. Impressively, the created sprites for each of the Pokemon made them appear like they were originally designed as 2D sprites, which was no small feat considering that the Pokemon were developed by Game Freak for a 3D environment.

The reimagining of these pocket monsters from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet as 2D sprites from Pokemon Gold and Silver has piqued the interest of many gamers on the internet. Among the comments, many were impressed with how well the designs of the Pokemon for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet transferred to the art style of Gold and Silver. Some gamers liked the look so much that they wished that there would be a new installment in the series that would use these classic sprites. In addition to the many positive comments from fans, the post has managed to gain more than 1,000 upvotes in less than a day.

It will be interesting to see what other Pokemon will be revealed for Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in the days ahead. Fortunately, gamers do not have to wait much longer to check the game out for themselves as it launches this coming November. Whatever new Pokemon are revealed ahead of launch, they are likely to become the focus of even more fan art.
