Christmas, the biggest holiday in the United States, is just days away. Gamers across the country will be unwrapping new PlayStation 5 consoles, games for both PS4 and PS5, and PlayStation Store gift cards. It’s the perfect opportunity for PlayStation to offer discounts on some of its biggest games, which is exactly what it’s done. As of Wednesday, December 23, the PlayStation Store Holiday Sale has officially begun, with significant discounts on major PS4, PS5, and PS VR games.
In total, there are over 1,800 items on sale as part of the PlayStation Store Holiday Sale, though that includes multiple versions of certain games as well as DLC and microtransaction items. In total, 324 of those listings are for PS5 and 1615 of them are for PS4, with some cross-platform games crossing over between both. For PlayStation VR enthusiasts, there are 74 discounted products, too. Discounts measure anywhere from 5% or 10% off all the way up to 75% off.
For PS5 owners, there are a number of options including major 2021 releases and exclusives. Major game releases including Call of Duty: Vanguard, Far Cry 6, Guardians of the Galaxy, Battlefield 2042, Diablo 2: Resurrected, Resident Evil Village, and Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade are part of the sale. As for exclusives, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Deathloop, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut have great prices.

PlayStation gamers won’t have to rush to a decision regarding what to pick up and what to pass. According to Sony, the PlayStation Holiday Sale will last nearly a month. It’s already begun, having started on December 23, and will last through January 19, into the new year. More specifically, the end date for the holiday sale is 11:49 PM local time on Wednesday, January 19.
Sony does note, however, that some games will stop being on sale on January 4, though it isn’t clear why. Upon further inspection, most games say that their discounts will end on January 8 and not January 19. It seems likely that the store needs to be updated or some other limitation is preventing Sony from accurately presenting the end of the sale on each game’s store listing.
Regardless of when each game’s discount ends, the PlayStation Store Holiday Sale is available now and will remain so at least through Christmas and New Year’s Day. That should be plenty of time for PS4 and PS5 gamers to spend any extra holiday cash they have on hand on a game they may have missed in recent memory. It should make for a merry PlayStation holiday.
