It is the season of giving and PlayStation wants to let fans in on some behind the scenes communication. PlayStation has released a batch of greeting cards from developers across the industry, featuring some of the most popular games and many familar faces.
This is not the first time that PlayStation has celebrated by sharing its greeting cards. PlayStation shared developer greeting cards in the winter of 2020, where companies from PlayStation Studios and beyond appear with some their popular IPs. Then unreleased games like Housemarque’s Returnal, and Lucid’s Destruction Allstars make appearances, with more larger name series like Treyarch’s Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, and Epic Games’ Fortnite. Many games themselves have already started their holiday festivities as well, with Fortnite Winterfest 2021 just starting and Call of Duty: Warzone with the Festive Fervor event.
This year’s batch of greeting cards from PlayStation includes many returning faces as well as some new ones too. Once again, PlayStation Studios is featured prominently here, with a cute Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart card from Insomniac Games, a festive Aloy and machine from Guerilla’s Horizon Forbideen West, and a rather ominous yet festive skull and space helmet from Housemarque and Returnal. Longtime Naughty Dog fans will appreciate their greeting card, it featuring the titular Jak and Daxter in celebration of The Precursor Legacy‘s 20th Anniversary. The full collection of greeting cards can be viewed here.
As for third-party greeting card, they make up the majority of the included images here. Respawn Entertainment sent along a festive Apex Legends card where Octane, Mirage, and Pathfinder amongst others all are dressed for the season. Many Square Enix franchises are featured in its card, with Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Final Fantasy 14, Nier Automata, and many other games comprising the insides of multiple snowflakes. And finally, the Sega greeting card shows the titular Sonic the Hedgehog, Super Monkey Ball‘s AiAi, Persona 5‘s Morgana, and other characters in a warm Christmas scene.
Seeing inside the gaming industry like this is something that regular players 20 years ago couldn’t do. With exclusive art and a sense of comradery, the greeting cards convey the sense of community that game developers share. Perhaps some of this artwork will be reposted to the specific communities that appeared here, but this is the best spot to see the whole greeting card collection in one place. Fans can check out end of year sale on the PlayStation Store to get deals on many of the games listed in the collection.
