Persona Anniversary Adds 2 More Announcements

Persona’s Japanese 25th anniversary website has quietly added two new announcements to its timeline, sparking speculation of new games.

Persona‘s 25th anniversary celebration has been filled with plenty of announcements and new content coming for the massively popular RPG franchise. Between the recent confirmation of the return of the annual “Persona Super Live” concert for later this year, collaborations with games like Final Fantasy Brave Exvius and last year’s Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania, and March’s port of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax, ATLUS has been slowly revealing more and more to celebrate its iconic franchise. Now, with several reveals left to come, ATLUS has hinted at even more announcements set for this year.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Despite recent leaks of Persona 4 Golden coming to Switch and PS4 after arriving to Steam in 2020 and rumors that Persona 5 may be headed to Xbox, ATLUS has yet to officially confirm information on any new upcoming traditional Persona games, be it a port of an old game or Persona 6. However, a recent update to the Japanese 25th anniversary site has seen the announcement timeline add two new mystery announcements, listed as “Coming Soon”.

The Japanese website for the Persona franchise’s 25th anniversary recently saw an update to its announcement timeline adding multiple “Coming Soon” slots. The timeline already featured nondescript announcements set for June and later in August as well as one more mystery announcement, with the update leading many to believe ATLUS is hinting at announcements to come at the previously announced “Persona Super Live” event. No official statement has been made by ATLUS regarding the addition.

While no confirmation has been made regarding a future Persona game from ATLUS, the positioning of the announcements within the timeline would suggest the details behind these updates may be coming during the summer. Both added announcements are placed between the June and Autumn announcements, with the vague window of the Autumn announcement possibly suggesting these newest announcements could be planned for the concert in October. An announcement for a future Persona game would be following in the footsteps of past Persona concerts, with the developer announcing Persona 5 Royal during the 2019 concert.

ATLUS’s mysterious new announcements come as speculation has run rampant among the fan base regarding the future of the Persona series. A recent report from ATLUS stated that the company was looking to expand the Persona series globally, mentioning unified global release windows. Further, rumors of Persona games coming to more consoles have been fueled by recent releases like the Switch-exclusive Shin Megami Tensei 5 and the upcoming Megami Tensei spinoff Soul Hackers 2 coming to Xbox. ATLUS clearly has plenty more surprising reveals in store for Persona fans throughout the rest of 2022.
