For many players in the gaming community, Hollow Knight is an incredibly rewarding experience. With environments for players to explore, atmosphere, and complex gameplay mechanics, Hollow Knight certainly has a lot to offer players. The speedrunning community, in particular, has taken a liking to Hollow Knight, including one young fan.
One of the biggest draws of Hollow Knight is the sheer amount of content. While some is more integral to game progression than others, what makes a speedrun of Hollow Knight so alluring is the challenging nature of the gameplay. Although, what’s truly amazing is the fact that not only did a 9-year-old beat Hollow Knight in less than 24 hours, but also received a medal for it.
A Reddit user named theotherquantumjim gave their 9 year-old a custom medal for completing a speedrun of Hollow Knight just over 21 hours. While this is much slower than the fastest Hollow Knight speedrun, which comes in at an impressive 33 minutes, it’s still a thoughtful way for a parent to celebrate their child’s achievements, especially when it’s something that is important to them.
It’s nice to see some parents embracing their children’s love for video games in positive ways. All over the internet, there have been examples of parents supporting the passion their children feel for video games in unexpected ways. For instance, one mother gave their child a birthday cake that was themed after Red Dead Redemption 2.
In any case, it’s amazing to see just how much longevity Hollow Knight has managed to maintain over the last several years. Following the game’s initial release back in 2017, Hollow Knight has quickly become one of the greatest indie success stories in the industry. However, there are fans that have been actively wondering what the future of the Hollow Knight series will entail.
It’s been over 1000 days since Hollow Knight: Silksong was first revealed, and there has been little to no additional news regarding the game’s development. In fairness, Team Cherry is an incredibly small studio comprised of only three developers, and thus, the process of developing a game on the same scale as Hollow Knight is no easy feat. Then again, games like Metroid Prime 4 are being developed by much larger studios, and it’s been equally as long since that game received a development update as well.
Hollow Knight is available on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
