Holiday sales are a time-honored part of the holidays, and the video game industry often celebrates by putting classic titles up with steep discounts. This year, Nintendo is celebrating the new year with a New Year Sale on the Nintendo eShop. Gamers can take advantage of a sale that puts select digital Nintendo Switch titles up to 30% off.
Due to conflicting time zones and scheduling, this year Nintendo of America and Nintendo of Europe have taken different tactics with recent sales promotions. This means that in Europe, the New Year Sale began back on the 31st of December, while in the Americas the event seems to have begun earlier today.
The New Year Sale was announced on the verified Nintendo of America Twitter account, which shared a video showcasing some of Nintendo’s highlighted titles and the associated deals. The video puts a spotlight on Super Mario Maker 2, Clubhouse Games: 51 Worldwide Classics, Mario Tennis Aces, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker – Special Episode DLC, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, Fitness Boxing, and more. Also shown off are Shin Megami Tensei 5, ARMS, Dragon Quest Builders and Dragon Quest Builders 2, Eastward, and The Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. The sale is currently scheduled to end on January 16 at 11:59 p.m. PT.
Alongside these highlighted titles are a number of other great deals, including the bloody and iconic Doom Eternal for $23.99, the surreal classic Katamari Damacy REROLL for $7.49, and the peaceful afterlife management sim Spiritfarer for $14.99.
