  • Nickmercs, a prominent streamer, has signed a $10 million, non-exclusive deal with Kick to expand his community and reach new audiences.
  • Kick’s growth and success can be attributed to its unique strategies for attracting content creators and ongoing efforts to enhance the platform with new features, despite Twitch’s apparent indifference.

In a noteworthy development within the streaming industry, Nickmercs, a prominent Twitch streamer and competitive gamer, has recently inked a substantial deal with Kick, a streaming platform that entered the market less than a year ago. With a primary goal of challenging the dominance of Amazon-owned Twitch, Kick has been strategically acquiring well-known streamers to bolster its platform.

Undoubtedly, Twitch has solidified its position as the leading streaming platform, and challenging its dominance is no small feat. Numerous platforms, including Mixer and Facebook Gaming, have attempted to establish themselves as rivals to Twitch but struggled to make a lasting impact. However, Kick appears to be making significant strides, and credit for its success can be attributed to the platform’s robust Creator Program and more relaxed community guidelines compared to Twitch. Furthermore, Kick consistently grabs headlines by securing partnerships with renowned streamers, such as its recent signing of one of Twitch’s most-watched female streamers.

The most recent streamer to form an agreement with Kick is Nicholas “NICKMERCS” Kolcheff, a prominent figure in the streaming community and co-owner of FaZe Clan, a significant player in content creation. What distinguishes this deal is its non-exclusivity, allowing NICKMERCS to stream on both Twitch and Kick. According to Forbes, this contract is set for one year and is estimated at $10 million. Speaking about the deal, NICKMERCS conveyed that his main goal has always been to build a strong community, and by expanding to Kick.com, he aims to reach new audiences and bring more fans into the MFAM community. He also expressed excitement about future plans, which include competing on big stages, hosting major events, and delivering fresh content in innovative ways.

Although it’s not known which major streamer might transition to Kick next, the signing of Nickmercs is undeniably noteworthy. With a substantial following across various social media platforms, including over 6.7 million followers on Twitch and over 4 million subscribers on YouTube, Nickmercs’ presence is poised to bolster Kick’s growth and expand its user base.

It’s important to highlight that Kick is continually experiencing growth, thanks to its unique strategies for attracting content creators and ongoing efforts to enhance the platform with new features. Interestingly, Twitch appears unfazed by Kick’s substantial investments in signing content creators. Recently, Twitch’s APAC Content Director, Lewis Mitchel, commented on xQc’s major deal with Kick, stating that the monetary aspect didn’t surprise him. He emphasized that Twitch’s primary focus remains on its creators and is less concerned about how others choose to invest in the industry.
