The newest trailer for Genshin Impact introduces the game’s newest five-star character, Alhaitham, giving players a flashy introduction to the Dendro sword user’s attacks and abilities. With the release of Version 3.4 approaching, HoYoVerse has rolled out plenty of details for what to expect from the RPG’s newest update. Two new characters in Alhaitham and Yaoyao will join the game’s playable roster, alongside an expansion to the game’s map and the return of a popular event. Now, players are getting their first look at how Alhaitham will play.
While Alhaitham is just now being made playable, Genshin Impact fans have already become familiar with the character throughout the course of the Sumeru region’s story. Alhaitham features heavily in the newest region’s Archon Quest as the Scribe for Sumeru’s Akademiya, helping the Traveler to investigate the Sages’ plot. Alhaitham is introduced as an eccentric intellectual through other characters’ voice lines, treading his own path and only investigating things he finds interesting. Now, Alhaitham’s newest trailer shows off his gameplay, imbuing his own attacks with Dendro.
Genshin Impact‘s new “Character Demo” trailer, titled “Alhaitham: Think Before You Act,” shows off Alhaitham’s attacks and Elemental abilities. The video is framed around Tighnari, Cyno, and Kaveh having a discussion over the Scribe’s fighting prowess. Alhaitham’s Elemental Skill marks an enemy allowing him to teleport in front of them, dealing Dendro damage and infusing his Attacks with Dendro for a short duration. His Elemental Burst deals Dendro damage in a large area, with Alhaitham’s Elemental Skill also working to increase the damage dealt by the AoE.
Alhaitham’s Dendro-infusing Elemental Skill will make him the first character in the game’s newest element to imbue his own attacks. Characters like Chongyun and Bennett have previously offered team-wide infusion of Cryo and Pyro, while Keqing’s Elemental Skill infuses her own attacks with Electro. Leaks have already suggested Alhaitham will be a strong addition to Spread-focused team compositions. Alhaitham’s signature five-star weapon, Light of Foliar Incision, will also work to provide increased damage for characters similar to the Scribe, empowering Elemental Normal Attacks.
With Alhaitham and Yaoyao set to officially debut in Version 3.4, HoYoVerse is already preparing players for a pair of new characters appearing in the next update. Genshin Impact officially confirmed Dehya and Mika as the next characters to join the RPG’s roster, scheduled to become playable in Version 3.5. Dehya plays a major role throughout Sumeru’s Archon Quest while Mika first appeared in Version 3.1’s main event, “Of Ballads and Brews.” Genshin Impact‘s roster is about to receive two more characters for players to try out, with plenty more planned for the coming updates.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
