LEGO Star Wars Video Compares Skywalker Saga Combat to 2007 Game

A video compares how combat looks in the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga compared to 2007’s LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga.

The first LEGO Star Wars video game launched in 2005, kicking off an entire franchise of LEGO-themed games with similar gameplay mechanics and a popular sub-series of LEGO Star Wars specific games. The original LEGO Star Wars game was followed up by LEGO Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy, with the two games then being combined to make LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga in 2007. The next game in the series is LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which will feature content from the original trilogy, the prequels, and the sequel series all in one package.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Fans have been waiting years to get their hands on LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, but unfortunately the game keeps getting pushed back. LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga still doesn’t have a solid release date, but is expected to drop at some point in early 2022. Whether or not that actually happens remains to be seen, but it’s clear that fans are growing anxious for the game.

While LEGO Star Wars fans wait for more news on the The Skywalker Saga release date, they can check out a video uploaded by Reddit user XavierEL1 to help pass the time. The brief video shows how combat looked in LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga from 2007 compared to how it looks in LEGO Star Wars: The Skyalker Saga in 2022.

As expected, the video shows a huge upgrade in animation when comparing LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga gameplay to the 2007 game that preceded it. There’s also a lot more environmental detail and the graphics are generally improved. It’s been 15 years since LEGO Star Wars: The Complete Saga launched, and so no one should be surprised that the new game looks much more advanced than its predecessor, though the comparison video really shines a light on just how substantial the upgrade will be.

If LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga‘s early 2022 release window is accurate, then hopefully fans will see more of the game soon. There have been various LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga gameplay videos and trailers released since the game’s announcement, but it would still be great to see more of it in action prior to launch.

LEGO Star Wars‘ popularity has persisted for well over a decade at this point, and it looks like LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is aiming to be the definitive way to experience the series. LEGO Star Wars fans will find out if it lives up to the hype soon enough.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
