Leaker Says Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Will Come With Modern Warfare 2, 120 FPS on Day One

Call of Duty leaker expects Modern Warfare 2 to be the next title in the series and it releases with Warzone 2, 120 FPS, and a FOV slider.

Activision Blizzard continues to update Call of Duty: Warzone from Verdansk to the Pacific Caldera, and a leaker has suggested that Call of Duty: Warzone 2 is coming in the future. According to the leaker, Warzone 2 will come with Modern Warfare 2, and it will see improved performance from the current Warzone experience.

According to leaker Tom Henderson on Twitter, the next Call of Duty title is the rumored Modern Warfare 2, which will be a sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare. The upcoming Call of Duty is expected to offer a new version of Call of Duty: Warzone that will act as a successor to Activision Blizzard’s battle royale. It’s said to include 120 FPS and an FOV slider on the day of its release. Henderson didn’t tease any potential points of interest to look out for in Warzone 2, but he did suggest that fans tamper their expectations.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Around the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Activision Blizzard updated Call of Duty: Warzone to reflect the Cold War setting by changing Verdansk to Verdansk ’84. Going beyond putting a new coat of paint on the battle royale setting, the Pacific Caldera was released mere months ago after Call of Duty: Vanguard’s launch. Just like the release of the previous Call of Duty games, the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is expected to change the island’s setting once again, according to Tom Henderson.

Call of Duty: Warzone reached over 100 million players since its 2020 release, and because the game has been free to play, it may have attracted players that aren’t otherwise interested in the Call of Duty franchise. Although Tom Henderson didn’t confirm whether the game will remain free when Warzone 2 releases, it will likely maintain the same standard. The leaker also confirmed that some technical improvements coming to Warzone 2, like the FOV slider come down to a technical limitation with the current battle royale client.

Just like familiar locations from past Call of Duty titles have been a focus of Call of Duty: Warzone, the upcoming changes with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 may include some familiar locales that haven’t been featured in the battle royale before. Because Activision Blizzard was recently purchased by Microsoft, some fans have worried about Call of Duty‘s future on PlayStation, but the franchise will remain multi-platform for now.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available right now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
