There is plenty of fun to be had when playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and one aspect of the game players have grown particularly fond of is the ability to dress up Rot. For those that enjoy customizing the critters, the latest Kena: Bridge of Spirits update should prove to be particularly exciting.
Following Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ Game Award victories, including Best Indie Game, Ember Lab is continuing to support its breakout title. The latest update, 1.14, features some additional content alongside minor bug fixes. While Ember Lab does not go into specifics about which bugs are fixed with the latest patch, it does give fans a look at the three special hats they can acquire. With Christmas less than a week away, it makes sense that each hat has a festive theme.
The first hat available for Kena’s Rot is the Fancy hat, which could be a nod to Ebenezer Scrooge. The adorable top hat has some mistletoe attached to a red ribbon that wraps around it. While the Fancy hat looks like something that can be worn at any time, the other hats more clearly embrace the holiday spirit. A Santa hat is worn by a Rot in the center of the image, while an Elf hat is worn by the Rot on the right. While these two hats are exactly what one would expect, they are certainly cute.
It is important to note that the post from Ember Lab makes it clear to Kena: Bridge of Spirits players that they can only acquire these special hats for a limited time. On January 21, 2022, they will disappear completely, meaning that players need to act fast if they want access to some holiday-themed Rot. It is also worth noting that players who collect the new hats will not lose them on January 1, so as long as they are picked up prior to New Year’s Day, players will have access to them forever.
A neat touch with the hats is that each of them is tied to one of Kena: Bridge of Spirits’ challenge chests. This adds a bit of extra gameplay alongside the free hats. The Elf and Fancy hats are both found at the Village Center, with players needing to kill 10 enemies without being hit and kill 6 enemies in under a minute to unlock each. The final holiday-themed Kena hat is found at the Village Leader Hall, and players who want to dress a Rot as Santa will have to kill 15 enemies in under a minute.
For those that enjoy Kena: Bridge of Spirits, these three challenge chests and their colorful rewards could give gamers a reason to jump back in. While they will not be in season for most of the year, they will look cute all year round.
Kena: Bridge of Spirits is available now on PC, PS4, and PS5.
