YouTuber Jacksepticeye is an incredibly popular content creator with over 27.7 million subscribers on his channel and over 14.6 billion views on his videos. But even popular content creators aren’t immune from issues impacting the real world. That includes the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. On Thursday, Jacksepticeye confirmed that he had tested positive for COVID-19, making him just that latest YouTuber and content creator to have caught the virus.
Confirming his positive test for COVID-19, Jacksepticeye made a short statement on Twitter. His message clarified that he received his positive test on the last day of being in Los Angeles. He isn’t sure where he caught COVID-19, nor does he know who he caught it from. The only other information that Jacksepticeye confirmed so far is that his partner Gab’s test results have shown negative and that she hasn’t shown any symptoms up to this point.
Not everything that Jacksepticeye has been up to in Los Angeles is clear. He’s clearly a very busy person and it isn’t clear how serious he’s been taking the pandemic. But it is confirmed that Jacksepticeye hosted his annual #THANKMAS charity event in Los Angeles as part of LA Comic Con, which ran between December 3 and December 5. He also attended The Game Awards on December 9. Symptoms typically begin showing on average after 5 days past initial contact, but can take longer. As such, it’s possible if not likely that the spread occurred as part of the event or surrounding activities.
Since Jacksepticeye noted that it was one of the last days he was spending in LA, he was likely planning on traveling home to the United Kingdom soon. A positive COVID-19 test, however, is likely to put those plans on hold. Both the United States and the UK require 10 days of self-isolation or up until receiving a negative COVID-19 test for the fully vaccinated. An extended stay isn’t anything anyone wants, especially in a country that isn’t home, but that’s what Jacksepticeye will have to deal with.
The replies to Jacksepticeye’s message on Twitter are full of sincere posts hoping for the YouTuber to recover quickly and feel healthy soon. Others talk about testing positive for COVID-19, or having gone through it before, too. Jacksepticeye even responded to one, saying that he hopes they’re “doing alright through it.”
While Jacksepticeye hasn’t offered any further comment regarding his COVID-19 positivity, it’s not slowing him down as of yet. Another message on Twitter he’s shared since thanked a venture capital business owner with a large audience for sharing information about Thankmas 2021. Don’t be surprised to see Jacksepticeye continue to be productive even as he recovers from COVID-19.
