Impressive Pokemon Fusion Art Combines Flamigo and Torterra

One talented Pokemon Scarlet and Violet fan has created fusion art combining Flamigo and Torterra, and the results are impressive. While creating artwork by fusing the designs of different Pokemon has been a favorite pastime for many series fans, the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet last November has created more potential options for these unique creations.

Among the new creatures introduced in Gen 9 was Flamigo, a dual-type Flying/Fighting Pokemon. As its name suggests, this pocket monster is designed around the look of a flamingo, featuring the same long legs and neck and pink coloration of the real-life bird. While its appearance might not seem imposing, Flamigo can pack a punch. Recently, one gamer decided this avian Pokemon would be the perfect subject for a new piece of fusion art.

In a piece of new art posted to Reddit, a user known as Ezeshark shared their interpretation of what the design elements of Flamigo and Torterra would look like combined. This new creature made by the Reddit user did not disappoint, containing recognizable highlights from both Pokemon’s designs. In addition, the artist included images of the original looks of both Pokemon for reference.

While this fusion art went with the general shape of Flamigo from Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, Ezeshark cleverly included many details from the design of Torterra. For example, this creature had a small tree sprouting from its back, similar to the one on the tortoise-like Pokemon. However, the Reddit user put their own spin on the design by making it pink to reflect the coloration of Flamigo. Furthermore, the fusion art used a color palette that was predominately made up of earth tones, such as browns and greens.

Since sharing the fusion art on Reddit, a number of members of the Pokemon community have enjoyed the artist’s take on the combined elements of the pocket monsters. In less than a day, the post already has hundreds of upvotes. In addition to complimenting the fusion art, some users offered names for the new creature. Among the suggestions were “Tortamigo” and Tortigo.”

With over a thousand Pokemon now a part of the series following the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, the internet is rife with fusion art based on Gen 9. For instance, one fan recently made art imagining Fuecoco’s evolutions as fusions with other Pokemon. With the upcoming DLC likely to keep fans engaged in the series for the foreseeable future, it will be interesting to see what types of fusions fans think up next.

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are available now for Nintendo Switch.
