Hugh Jackman Shows Off His Bulking Diet For Getting Wolverine-Level Jacked

Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman has taken to social media to share a peek at his bulking diet ahead of reprising his most famous role in the upcoming Deadpool 3. The actor, who also has a notable career on Broadway, is well-known for his superhuman physique when called upon.

One of the most popular characters under the auspice of comics industry giant Marvel Comics, The Wolverine is a mutant with a dark and murky past who has always featured prominently in X-Men comics and solo titles. Hugh Jackman famously played Wolverine in several X-Men films and solo projects that show his relationships and dynamics with others outside the X-Men. One of his more engaging associates is Deadpool, who also emerged from the dreaded Weapon X program. As such, there was enormous fan uproar and approval when his real-life pal Ryan Reynolds confirmed that Jackman would reprise his Wolverine role for Deadpool 3.

While co-star Reynolds began his Deadpool 3 training by roasting Jackman in a true-to-character Deadpool move, the Wolverine actor has been putting in more work on his physique than his wit. Taking to his Twitter account, Jackman tweeted two images with the caption, “Bulking. A day in the life. Thank you Chef Mario for helping me stay healthy and properly fed whilst .. Becoming. Wolverine. Again.” The attached images show six packed meals set out for Jackman’s day, with Variety giving a whopping calorie estimate of 8,000 units.

This sort of effort is nothing new for Jackman, who has always denied using steroids to get into shape for Wolverine. In addition to the grueling dietary requirements placed on him, Jackman has not slacked in the gym, with the star reportedly starting intense training to play Wolverine in Deadpool 3 as early as October 2022. With these two factors working in tandem, there’s little doubt that fans and first-time viewers are in for a Wolverine in stellar fighting form, all the better for Jackman to deliver on his promise of an ‘angry’ Wolverine in the upcoming movie. Whatever the final visual is, there is zero chance of anyone going home disappointed in Jakcman’s effort to get in superhuman shape.

Despite the excitement the majority of the Marvel fanbase is feeling, there is a smaller contingent that believes the character’s addition in Deadpool 3 is a bit of a misstep, with many wondering what the point of the character’s stellar send-off in Logan is in light of his return to the big screen. While the character’s inclusion will boost Deadpool 3, Jackman may have gone some distance in tarnishing the clean, satisfying break he was granted from the iconic role in 2017.

Deadpool 3 is set for a November 8, 2024, theatrical release in the US.
