Hogwarts Legacy Adding Beloved Sport to Game as DLC

Hogwarts Legacy has easily been the biggest launch in video games for 2023 thus far, and it’s likely to break a few longstanding sales records when all is said and done. For games as big as this, there are sure to be tons of players out there that are still making their way through the campaign or seeking out those last few Hogwarts Legacy field pages before moving on. However, those who might be wondering what is next got their first hint in the form of a screenshot reveal.

Game Rant has gotten its hands on the first screenshot from the first piece of Hogwarts Legacy, and it’s a juicy one. Our source wishes to remain anonymous but we were struck by how frequently they kept looking at our socks.

Many have speculated and requested that Hogwarts Legacy add a certain popular sport to the game. Developer Avalanche Software knows it, fans know it – practically everyone in the world figures that Hogwarts Legacy is going to add the sport. It wasn’t a matter of if, but a matter of when and now Hogwarts Legacy players have finally got their wish.

Hogwarts Legacy is adding golf! After the constant fan requests and speculation, Avalanche Software our bringing the greatest game ever played to the world of Hogwarts. Dubbed the ‘Clubs and Irons’ expansion, this Hogwarts Legacy add-on is said to release later this year.

If there were concerns about golf being added, fans can rest assured that this won’t just be a simple mini-game; golf will be brought to Hogwarts Legacy in all its glory. There will be putting challenges, long drive challenges, and full 18-hole courses in Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and the Forbidden Forest. The one major change is using brooms for golf carts and trolls for caddies.

Some might be questioning the decision to add golf into Hogwarts Legacy but it seems like an obvious pairing. The obsessions with wooden sticks and plaid patterns both go a long way in golf and the world of witchcraft and wizardry.

That being said, golf in Hogwarts Legacy is being treated with an earnest development effort, meaning that magical spells like Leviosa will not be able to interfere with the ball. The fantastical imagery of the Harry Potter world will be on full display, though, like dragons passing over the 14th hole.

Our source tells us that Avalanche Software has put so much development time and effort into this expansion that there might not be time for anything else…certainly not anything sport-like at the very least. Nevertheless, we are excited to see what golf can add to the world of Hogwarts Legacy.

Hogwarts Legacy is available now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, with PS4, Switch, and Xbox One versions set to release in the summer.
