Genshin Impact Releases New Art to Celebrate Social Media Milestone

Genshin Impact continues to gain new players as its social media presence grows on platforms such as Twitter and Reddit. Nearly two years after launch, developer miHoYo celebrates a new social media milestone with the Genshin Impact community and releases a new piece of artwork featuring two Inazuman characters.

Genshin Impact was first released on September 28, 2020, and quickly became a games-as-a-service success for miHoYo. Two weeks after launch, Genshin Impact recouped its development costs of roughly $100 million, and the game’s annual budget expanded to $200 million in 2021. Major updates would release in the months and years following launch, introducing a plethora of new content for players to explore. During that time, Genshin Impact’s Twitter follower count grew immensely as millions of players joined the community. The game’s success also kick-started miHoYo’s HoYoverse branding for all of its major games.

Genshin Impact surpassed four million followers on Twitter, encouraging Paimon to celebrate with the community through the social media platform. To celebrate the social media milestone, the Twitter account released new artwork featuring Genshin Impact’s Kamisato Ayaka and Yoimiya, two beloved characters from the region of Inazuma. Ayaka is seen in her signature blue battle kimono while Yoimiya is depicted with fireworks procured from Naganohara Fireworks.

The latest social media milestone comes weeks before the arrival of Genshin Impact version 3.0. The new update brings another major region to explore, Sumeru, and continues the main story of Genshin Impact. Additionally, Genshin Impact version 3.0 adds new Sumeru characters and weapons to summon through event wishes. MiHoYo is expected to share more information about Genshin Impact version 3.0 around August 13 according to prominent leaker SpendYourPrimos.

Genshin Impact’s success across social media reflects the healthy state of the open-world action RPG. Players continue to build excitement around new updates and content, and the community’s shared sense of optimism continues to be a boon for miHoYo. A special live stream for the upcoming 3.0 update will likely capitalize on the excitement by formally introducing new characters and gameplay.

A five million followers milestone on Twitter does not seem farfetched for Genshin Impact considering the schedule of updates and information. However, it will be interesting to see if miHoYo continues to develop new Genshin Impact content in good faith, appealing to strictly free-to-play players and active spenders alike. If miHoYo continues the momentum, more Genshin Impact players could consider diving into the development studio’s upcoming games such as Zenless Zone Zero and Honkai: Star Rail.

Genshin Impact is available now for Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. A Nintendo Switch version is in development with no confirmed release date.
