One of Genshin Impact‘s greatest assets is its diverse and unique anime-inspired character roster. This does not come as a surprise considering that the characters are the main source of revenue for this gacha-based game.
The ongoing Genshin Impact update 2.7 has finally introduced the long-awaited five-star Hydro user, Yelan. However, a recent post on the game’s subreddit has revealed an interesting detail about Yelan’s design.
The new character Yelan runs the popular Yungsheng teahouse which is actually an underground casino, giving her a reputation of being a high-skilled gambler. This fact is also probably the reason behind all the dice in her design. Reddit user akaDennis has shared two interesting images comparing two of Yelan’s dice, the one around her neck and the one displayed on her Elemental Burst icon. The Redditor points out that her necklace dice seems to be inaccurate when it comes to the position of the numbers. A standard D6 die has is designed in a way that the opposing side numbers add up to 7 meaning that the side in the lover left corner should actually have three dots, like it is the case with her burst icon.
The game’s community seems to be very invested in solving this Genshin Impact mystery as the post gathered almost 5k upvotes. While some fans claim that developer HoYoverse made a mistake in the design of her necklace, others think that this was done with purpose as the dice around her neck is actually a spindown version which is generally used various board games and typically have more than 6 sides.
Players who want to add Yelan to their playable roster should try wishing on her banner as soon as possible considering that the limited banner, Discerner of Enigmas, expires on June 21. At the time of her reveal a couple of weeks ago, she was considered to be five-star version of the popular four-star support, Xingqui, due to the similarities between their kits. However, since then she’s proven to be one of the best characters in Genshin Impact with a unique set of abilities.
Yelan actually managed to break the record for being the most pulled Genshin Impact character on the first day of her release. While this is certainly an impressive achievement, it should be noted that players had some additional time to save more Primogems for their banner due to the recent three-week delay for Version 2.7. The second part of the update will introduce a popular character from Inazuma, the Geo claymore user, Arataki Itto.
Genshin Impact is now available on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5. A Switch version is in development.
