There are seven elements in the magical world of Genshin Impact: Pyro, Cryo, Electro, Dendro, Geo, Anemo, and Hydro. Each element comes with its own stats, bonuses, and unique interactions–and these traits often apply to enemies and NPCs as well as playable characters. Many players seem to find Dendro the most irritating element in Genshin Impact, which may be why one player was excited to discover that Jean Gunnhildr has the ability to suck hidden Dendro slimes out of their hiding spots.
Jean is a playable Anemo character known as Mondstadt’s Lion of the South. It may not surprise players to learn that she lives in Mondstadt, where she serves as the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius–a position that functionally makes her the highest authority in the city. Jean is well known for having a very effective kit, but the way her abilities mesh with the abilities of Dendro slimes’ seems to have been a shock to some players.
Like many fantasy video games, Genshin Impact features slimes as a potential opponent. These gelatinous foes are common enemies that are completely immune to their own element and will attack others with said element. More importantly for some, small Dendro slimes have a tendency to hide in the ground and not come out unless the player is facing away from them. However, Reddit user rioluis recently discovered that Jean can pull these concealed slimes straight out of the ground and force them to join the battle.
At the moment, there are no Dendro characters implemented in Genshin Impact, so players must make use of characters like Jean who are unexpectedly effective against Dendro foes. This is especially important as elemental reactions are very important to Genshin Impact. However, like many other five-star characters, Jean can be difficult to get ahold of through the game’s gacha mechanics. Her younger sister Barbara is significantly easier for players to get their hands on, but Barbara may not be as effective at drawing Dendro slimes out of hiding.
As of writing, it appears that other Genshin Impact fans are pleased to find another use for an already versatile character. Several users declared that this discovery was one more reason Jean was awesome, while others began listing off more reasons Jean is a solid pick. One user shared their own tactic for flushing Dendro slimes out of hiding–baiting a hilichurl into burning the surrounding grass–while a second user notes that it’s fine if Jean’s abilities only draw out small Dendro slimes, as large Dendro slimes will just attack the player normally.
Genshin Impact is available now on Mobile, PC, PS4, and PS5, and is currently in development for the Switch.
