Genshin Impact‘s 4.2 update’s Archon Quest might focus on the prophesied flooding of Fontaine if the recent leak about it is to be believed. Fontaine’s flooding has been alluded to in Genshin Impact‘s previous Archon Quests, which may be the overarching calamity the Traveler must prevent or solve during their visit there.
The prophesied flooding of Fontaine has been the conflict looming in Fontaine since Genshin Impact‘s 4.0 update. Fans up-to-date in the game’s plot would remember that Lyney and Lynette hinted at this not long after the Traveler arrived in Fontaine. Previous Archon Quests also featured the consequences of such a flood, which may happen sooner or later, and the emergency measures Fontaine is preparing behind the scenes just in case. These are evidenced by what happened during Lyney and Marcel’s trial, Neuvilette’s prediction, and Wriothesley’s “ark.” As expected, the Traveler will play a key part in saving Fontaine and preventing the Furina, the (suspected) Hydro Archon Focalors, from weeping on her throne due to her failure in preventing the flood and being left alone. However, the game has yet to reveal how they could intervene.
Genshin Impact 4.2 Update Archon Quest Leak
Thankfully, it seems the Traveler may soon acquire information critical to saving Fontaine from its impending doom. According to a recent leak from X user Kuroo, the Archon Quest in Genshin Impact‘s 4.2 update might focus on the prophesied flooding. It will also show how the Traveler will acquire the knowledge that could help them and the people of Fontaine reduce the flood’s damage to the region or reverse it entirely. Although Kuroo’s posts are in Portuguese, a translation can be found on Reddit’s r/Genshin_Impact_Leaks, wherein a commenter calls Kuroo’s leak accurate, as the information they leaked has details similar to previous ones.
Kuroo also disclosed that Genshin Impact‘s 4.2 Archon Quest may show a flooded and destroyed Opera Epiclese, the opera house where Fontaine hosts its trials and performances. They also included a video on their X post showing the once elegant opera house in ruins and seemingly surrounded by Primordial Seawater, which could dissolve anyone native to Fontaine in enough amounts.
Based on what Kuroo revealed, it’s probable that the Archon Quest coming in Genshin Impact‘s 4.2 update will have the Traveler receive visions that show how the flooding will happen firsthand. As such, the ruined Opera Epiclese could be a vision of what’s to come instead of an event happening in-game as Kuroo’s character is walking around the opera house instead of swimming in it. The visions will also allow the Traveler to receive information on how they could minimize the flood’s damage or even reverse it. While reversing the Primordial Seawater’s effects is unlikely, such an ability may come in handy to prevent or reduce casualties when the prophesied flooding does occur in the immediate future.
Although Kuroo’s video gives them credibility, video game developer HoYoverse has yet to release official information about the upcoming update. As such, Genshin Impact players should take a skeptical approach to Kuzoo’s information until HoYoverse releases details about the upcoming update during its 4.2 Special Program, which it will broadcast on November 3.
