Funny Elden Ring Clip Shows How Soulsborne Veterans Approach the Game’s Elevator Rides

Veteran FromSoftware fans know what secrets and tricks to look out for in Elden Ring, with one player demonstrating how they approach elevator lifts.

Once fans have played two or more FromSoftware titles, they will start to notice the idiosyncrasies that occur frequently and continue to appear in Elden Ring. Even if players were to start with Dark Souls and then leap immediately after into Dark Souls 3, they will learn the same tips and tricks that help players maneuver more smoothly through Elden Ring.

Now, veteran FromSoftware players have come to suspect and anticipate these frequented features in Elden Ring as a result of how often FromSoftware employs them. Elden Ring hides access to secret passageways found only via invisible walls, for example, and hides obscured pathways around and below lift platforms that other players may not look twice at. Catacombs and dungeons in Elden Ring are rife with these secrets, and one fan has shown how veteran players will approach any lift they ride on after they see how fortuitous it can be.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Redditor u/dfthaman points out a funny strategy for Elden Ring players to make the most of their elevator ride: by rotating the camera around the player-character for the lift’s duration, any passageways embedded in a wall at any height may be spotted on the player’s way up or down. These are hole-in-the-wall paths that players will have to drop off the platform at the right moment to access and can be easily missed if players only keep their camera in a forward-facing position while they ride a lift platform.

Redditor u/RedFalcon505 points out that the fan “forgot to step on the button again and then get off and see if there’s anything underneath the platform.” Indeed, Elden Ring hides a lot of areas this way that may be important to progressing through a dungeon. Redditor u/VanGohsGoodEar also points out that a veteran Soulsborne player would have given themselves a faster shortcut and hit the button in order to send the lift back up for “when you inevitably die and have to take it back down.”

These tips may seem minor in terms of the overall scale and scope of Elden Ring, but they are substantial when it comes to time-saves and full exploration of an area. Not every elevator will have a secret, and not every wall will have an invisible path, but it is still fun practice to get used to if players wish to search each and every corner for Elden Ring‘s illustrious secrets.

Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
