Fortnite Collision Event Trailer Teases the End of Chapter 3 Season 2

Fortnite releases a trailer for its Chapter 3 Season 2-ending event ‘COLLISION,’ teasing the long-awaited return of Mecha Strike Commander.

After the inaugural season of Fortnite Chapter 3 went without a cinematic climax, Season 2 is set to see the return of a formal season-ending event. The upcoming “COLLISION” season end event has received a new teaser trailer offering players a preview of what they can expect from the experience.

The highly anticipated season-ending event should see a dramatic conclusion to the ongoing territory war of Fortnite‘s island. After successfully driving back the vast majority of Imagined Order forces from major POIs on the map, “COLLISION” looks to be the final showdown between the IO and The Seven, and will include at least one colossal robot bear.

The roughly 30-second trailer begins with a shot of four armored characters walking into a massive room as a gate opens up. Behind that gate is the hulking Mecha Strike Commander, which veteran players may recognize from Fortnite‘s first chapter. Reconstructed and revamped for the ultimate showdown with the Imagined Order, players will also notice the enormous mech is the same one that’s been slowly constructed in the background of the lobby. The trailer then shows a slow-motion shot of the squad walking towards Mecha Strike Commander, which gets its left arm attached before booting up with glowing red lights.

Previous announcements regarding the details of Fortnite‘s “COLLISION” reveal the four characters shown are the different variants of the Mecha Weapons Team Outfits, available in Fortnite‘s item shop. Since the event has the requirement of a full four-person squad, it seems all but guaranteed players will be piloting the huge robot in at least some capacity. “COLLISION” takes place on June 4 at 4 PM ET/1 PM PT and is a one-time only, in-game event. Players are able to enter the event playlist 30 minutes prior to start time, and those without a full squad will have their group filled automatically.

In addition to the Power Rangers-esque Mecha Weapons Team Outfits, Fortnite has released its Fortnite Crew pack for June 2022, with a very well-timed skin. This month’s pack features a skin of the gargantuan mech itself, Mecha Strike Commander, albeit in a normal player size. Several related cosmetics come with the pack as well, like the Mecha Light Capacitor Back Bling and Mecha Reborn Wrap. Players who purchase June’s Fortnite Crew now will get access to both the current season’s Battle Pass, and Chapter 3 Season 3’s Battle Pass when it officially begins next week.

Fortnite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
