As Bethesda continues to improve Fallout 76, it occasionally offers double experience events. Fallout recently celebrated its 25th anniversary in many ways, with Fallout 76 being available to try for free for a limited time, with the latest double XP event providing more incentive for lapsed players to return to the RPG.
Developers behind Fallout 76 have confirmed the latest Double experience event takes place over the weekend, with the last one taking place during the 25th-anniversary celebration. Fallout 76 is far from the first title to offer double XP over the weekend, as it has become a common staple for the Call of Duty franchise, as well as Overwatch 2, Red Dead Online, and Battlefield 2042.
The Fallout Twitter account has confirmed that double XP is among the incentives being offered in Fallout 76 over the weekend. Beyond the double XP bonus in Fallout 76 until January 17 at 12:00 P.M. eastern time, players will also be able to earn Double Mutations in Daily Ops and more gold than usual. The bonus multiplier called Gold Rush will be active over the weekend which will double gold made through Fallout 76‘s Gold Press Machines to increase a player’s spending potential.
Unlike other games that have sprung double experience events on their players, Fallout 76 teased the weekend festivities on January 12, preparing its audience a couple of days ahead of time. Because Fallout 76 launched as a live service title to a massive backlash, many fans that initially felt betrayed by the online Fallout title have returned to try it again with things like Expeditions: The Pitt, Invaders From Beyond, and the aforementioned Fallout 25th anniversary. February 2022 marked the 25th anniversary of the Fallout franchise which provided a free update to Fallout 76 that brought a small influx of players that hadn’t come back with the previous expansions.
Although Fallout 76‘s double XP isn’t as much incentive to return as the content presented in previous updates, the additional reason to log on may be enough to entice some players that haven’t hit level 50 yet. Because of the exploration potential of being level capped in Fallout 76, many players may utilize the double XP weekend to grind out those last few levels in order to do more end-game content before the next major patch.
Fallout 76 is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
