As the year nears its end, so too does the Epic Games Store free mystery promotion. Every day for the past 15 days, the Epic Games Store has given away one game, with the lot of them ranging from big AAA games like Control to fun, indie games like Loop Hero. Now, the final free mystery game of the year has been confirmed.
Following Salt and Sanctuary is the full Tomb Raider trilogy, which has been released over the past few years. Specifically, this means fans can claim Tomb Raider: Game of the Year Edition, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration, and Shadow of the Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition. Not only do these three games end the mystery promo of this year, but they restart the typical weekly cycle of the Epic Games Store, meaning fans can claim it until 10 AM CT on January 6.
Included in each version of these games is a series of additional content as well. For example, Rise of the Tomb Raider includes all the season pass content such as Blood Ties and Lara’s Nightmare, where she gets to explore the Croft Manor but then also defend it from zombies.
As always, the Epic Games Store has also revealed the free game that’ll be available on January 6 after the Tomb Raider trilogy. This is Gods Will Fall, where players take on the role of warriors determined to end the gods’ manipulation and control of humanity. It’s not as prestigious as some of the games in the promo, but it’s also arguably a good game to kickstart the new year with.
Looking back, the Epic Games Store has given away a pretty good selection of games, not just for the mystery game promo but for the year at large. The Epic Games Store will hopefully continue the push it has done this year into next and just as good—if not better—games are offered throughout 2022. After all, there is the old adage of “new year, new me.”
It does remain to be seen, but for those who have claimed the free games on the Epic Games Store this December, their backlogs are likely bursting at the seams. They’ll likely want to play as much as possible, as fast as they can, because there are a ton of video games releasing in early 2022.
Epic Games Store users typically get a handful of free games every week.
