Many players’ nightmares come true as an Elden Ring player is attacked through a wall by an Ulcerated Tree Spirit. A player can never truly feel safe in Elden Ring, not even within the walls of the hub area Roundtable Hold, as there are times when even that is not true. Getting away from one enemy can lead a player right into the clutches of the other, and even if one thinks they are safe behind any of the walls in the game, that might not keep the foes of Elden Ring at bay. That is what one player found out in their encounter with an Ulcerated Tree Spirit.
Ulcerated Tree Spirits are a foe that it seems not many Elden Ring players enjoy, being one of the most repeated boss fights that appear multiple times in the game. Their unpredictable attacks and great stature make them a rather tough enemy to face, especially since some of them are put in places that are way too small to fight in. One of their more dangerous attacks is when they swoop in to grab the player and spew golden breath on them, dealing a massive chunk of damage.
One player was trying to escape from an Ulcerated Tree Spirit when they got attacked. Posting to r/Eldenring, user IrishJayjay94 uploaded a video of one of the shares they recorded from Elden Ring. In it, the player is trying to sneak past the Ulcerated Tree Spirit in Leyndell, Royal Capital. Midway through sneaking past, they alert the creature and begin to run into the supposed safety of a nearby building, when suddenly they are grabbed through the wall by the Ulcerated Tree Spirit doing their grab and spew attack, a worse fate than a Caelid Dog simply clipping through the wall.
Thankfully, the player was not killed by this specific attack and was just thrown to the floor with a chunk of their health gone. Their luck ran out soon after, however, as a few more steps into the building they are targeted by one of the Capital’s dangerous Leyndell Knights, who quickly strikes down the player with a couple of lightning strikes, killing them.
Even when tucked behind the sturdy walls of Leyndell’s many buildings, no one can ever be truly safe. Whether it’s because an enemy’s attack animation can reach through walls, or there’s another enemy waiting there to finish the player off, there is no such thing as being too cautious, for foes like Elden Ring‘s Cleanrot Knights can send the player quickly to their death, inadvertently or not.
Elden Ring is available now for PC, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
