Elden Ring Player Enters Godskin Duo Boss Room But Immediately Dies

The Godskin Duo boss encounter quickly became one of the most notorious fights among Elden Ring players, due to the intense aggression from two enemies that had previously been fought alone now attacking together. However, one player appears to have been given some terrible luck, making it seemingly impossible to even start fighting the Godskin Duo, as they can hardly make it into the boss arena.

This comes courtesy of Reddit user mndflyr, who posted to the Elden Ring subreddit, sharing their experience of walking into the Godskin Duo and not even being able to take one extra step into the room. To add insult to injury, it isn’t even the boss that winds up killing the player, instead, it’s a consistent issue that previous FromSoftware titles have had with the fog walls that lead into arenas since Demon’s Souls.

In a short clip, the player can be seen walking into the Godskin Duo fight with very low health, which is already a setup for disaster when taking on this aggressive encounter. However, before even being able to take a step into the arena, the player seems to mysteriously get hit and immediately dies due to already being so low on HP. The result is an instant death before even getting a good look at Elden Ring‘s Godskin Duo and the inevitable additional insult of having fireballs thrown towards the player’s already disappearing body.

It can be difficult to see with how quickly the player is killed, but the cause of this seemingly random damage is actually coming from outside of the boss arena. Apparently, enemies that had previously been in combat with the player are not only still aggressive when entering a boss arena, but they can also sometimes reach their weapons through Elden Ring‘s fog walls to land attacks. This isn’t even new for FromSoftware titles, as fog walls in games like Dark Souls have previously failed to stop oncoming attacks and hit players right at the start of a difficult boss fight.

With the Godskin Duo, in particular, it’s understandable how the player still happened to have had the aggro of another enemy before walking into the boss encounter. One of the reasons that this boss in particular has become so divisive among fans is that the run-up to the arena is littered with powerful enemies that it’s often better to try avoiding rather than taking on before the Godskin Duo. So, while this is a particularly unfortunate and hilarious situation, the layout of Elden Ring‘s Crumbling Farum Azula makes it a potentially common occurrence as players fight just to get to the boss room.

Elden Ring is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
