Diablo 4 Players Want Better Side Quest Rewards

  • Diablo 4 players want Blizzard to improve side quest rewards, as they currently offer minimal benefits and are not worth the effort.
  • Suggestions for buffing side quest rewards include scaling gems with character level and unlocking unique elixir recipes, making the grind more worthwhile.
  • Players hope for the introduction of permanent side quests in the future that offer armor and weapon crafting options, providing unique designs or recipes to engage with.

Season of the Malignant is in full swing for Diablo 4, and its players believe that Blizzard could further improve upon the Renown grind by buffing side quest rewards. Though players can elect to skip the campaign in Diablo 4, the same luxury isn’t extended to its side quests, as each new Season necessitates a new grind for Renown. Following some feedback from the community, Blizzard made a maximum of two Renown bars carry over from the Eternal Realm, with seasonal characters still needing to revisit all five Regions in Diablo 4 to shore up on the important rewards and perks provided through the Renown system.

While a grand total of 20 Paragon points and 10 Skill points is nothing to scoff at, the side quests in Diablo 4 offer extremely barren rewards. Their sole importance in the gameplay loop is to provide Renown points for each completed quest, which makes some Diablo 4 players feel as if Blizzard isn’t utilizing the concept to its full potential.

Though the current situation in the community remains tense following the poor reception to Diablo 4‘s Patch 1.1, it hasn’t stopped people from submitting valuable feedback to the developers. One of the aspects of the game that many players believe could use some improvement is its side quests, and NycAlex put together a thread on the Diablo 4 subreddit to further discuss the topic.

As pointed out by NycAlex, completing side quests is a nice break from the mindless grind of Dungeons and Strongholds in Diablo 4. However, the rewards for doing so usually aren’t worth the effort. A few herbs, one or two Veiled Crystals, some chipped gems, and barely any experience points can hardly qualify as exciting quest rewards. Allowing characters to earn gems that scale with level, or to unlock unique elixir recipes would certainly make the grind feel worthwhile, and as a result, players would likely feel a desire to engage with the content beyond its requirement for raising Renown.

The seasonal storytelling in Diablo 4 has manifested in the form of a unique questline for Season of the Malignant, but it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if Blizzard had plans to introduce more permanent side quests to the game in the near future. Players are hoping that armor and weapon crafting will be implemented in Diablo 4 at some point, and adding side quests that give players unique designs or recipes would definitely be a good solution.

Diablo 4 is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
