Xur has returned again to Destiny 2, complete with new exotic and legendary gear for players to check out for a limited time. Season of Plunder continues to roll on, with the latest addition to the game being the Master version of the King’s Fall raid. Not only does this give players a new challenge to overcome, but it also gives them new opportunities to earn better loot, higher stat armor, as well as Harrowed and Adept variations of legendary weapons.
However, Hunters will have to overcome the added challenge without one of the more popular exotic armor pieces currently in the game. Last week, Bungie disabled the Gyrfalcon’s Hauberk exotic chest piece due to a new glitch which could buff Titan allies to the point where they become unkillable. When its unique ability is triggered, Titans gained improved damage mitigation as well as increased ability regeneration. If a Titan was wearing the Loreley Splendor or using Juggernaut, the ability regeneration would be permanent, allowing for sunspots to be spawned every few seconds.
For now, players will have a selection of exotics to pick from thanks to the weekend merchant Xur arriving in Destiny 2 for the next few days. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of September 23, 2022.
Where is Xur?
This weekend, players can track down Xur on Earth inside the Winding Cove of the European Dead Zone.
Fast travel to the Winding Cove zone and immediately head towards the back where the Fallen typically patrol. Climb the cliffs back here to find Xur standing on a ledge not too far from a crashed ship.
Class Armor and Exotic Cipher
Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clan mates or finishing more challenging activities.
Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.
Exotic Armor
Lunafaction Boots – Warlock leg armor
At one point in time, Lunafaction Boots were the must have exotic for Warlocks thanks to how helpful there were with overcoming challenging content. Following the launch of the Shadowkeep expansion, the boots received a heavy nerf and haven’t really been back at the top of the meta since.
However, they’re still viable in certain spots thanks to its exotic perk, Alchemical Etchings, which provides a substantial impact to both rifts. All rifts now gain the added ability to increase weapon reload speeds while Empowering Rift makes weapons more effective over longer ranges. Similar to the Hunter’s exotic this week, these Lunafactions have a decent roll of 62, though extremely low Discipline and Mobility.
Solar Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +2
- Resilience +13
- Recovery +17
- Discipline +2
- Intellect +16
- Strength +12
Raiden Flux – Hunter chest armor
The Raiden Flux exotic chest piece comes with the perk Synapse Junctions which buffs Arcstrider staff damage and duration when chaining moves together. To really maximize the return this exotic provides, its recommended that Hunters perform the light hit, light hit, heavy hit combo attack.
This is arguably the best exotic gear for Arcstrider Hunters and is absolutely recommended for players who like to run this subclass, especially after the arc 3.0 rework. The damage increase is substantial against all types of enemies and the added duration is extremely helpful. The roll this week is a solid 62 with high marks to Resilience, Recovery, Strength, and Intellect. Unfortunately, Mobility and Discipline are extremely low, so players will need to offset that with mods.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +3
- Resilience +21
- Recovery +9
- Discipline +9
- Intellect +11
- Strength +10
Aeon Safe – Titan gauntlets
While these were an easy pass in years past, the Aeon Cult set of exotics have been reworked to making them more valuable and giving each one more of a role-based mechanic. While they’re still not top tier gear, they’re infinitely more useful than they were, even being valuable on difficult activities like Nightfalls. It also helps that this gear has the highest stat roll of the week, coming in at 66, so it may be worth looking into.
Instead of a unique perk, this armor now has specific Aeon mods that can be equipped. Sect of Force is for damage dealers, temporarily increasing player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fire team members a burst of grenade and melee energy. Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gaining full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing. Finally, Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.
Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:
- Mobility +8
- Resilience +8
- Recovery +18
- Discipline +7
- Intellect +16
- Strength +9
Exotic Weapon
Seen only a few months ago, Vigilance Wing is back with Xur. Its intrinsic perk called Hard Truths makes this weapon more unique from traditional pulse rifles as this weapon has a five shot burst instead of the typical three. In addition, the player using the weapon gains instant health regeneration and increased movement speed when a nearby ally is killed due to the trait Last Stand.
The five shot burst along with the fact that pulse rifles are a very popular and strong weapon type in Destiny 2 makes this a solid weapon to pick up for those who don’t yet have one.
Additional perks:
- Corkscrew Rifling
- Alloy Mag
- Composite Stock
Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls
Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.
Hawkmoon Rolls:
- Chambered Compensator
- Alloy Magazine

- Smooth Grip
