Destiny 2: Xur Exotic Armor, Weapon, and Recommendations for June 17

In the middle of week 4, it seems that most Destiny 2 players have settled into a normal rhythm for grinding the gear they’re looking for. Thankfully, the current Season of the Haunted has introduced plenty of new legendary weapons that can not only be farmed, but crafted once the Deepsight patterns have been extracted. Fan favorite weapons like the Austringer hand cannon and Beloved sniper rifle are also making a big comeback, especially with some of the perks that can be associated with them.

GAMERANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Alongside the Solar 3.0 subclass overhauls, players are still discovering optimal builds and loadouts, especially when attempting to synergize with certain exotics. Unfortunately for Hunters, controversy erupted earlier this month when Bungie made a change to the Caliban’s Hand Exotic gauntlets text description, rather than changing the item’s behavior to match the original description like many fans were hoping.

For now, the weekend merchant Xur is back again in Destiny 2. Follow this guide for his most current weekend location, news on his exotic cipher quest, as well as a review of all the exotic and legendary gear he’s brought for the weekend of June 17, 2022.

Where is Xur?

This weekend, players can find Xur on Nessus, hanging out on his usual massive tree branch.

From the Director, head to Nessus and load into Watcher’s Grave. Run towards the back of the zone where a massive tree is found. Jump up until players find the huge branch where the merchant is hanging out.

Class Armor and Exotic Cipher

Xur’s role continues to offer the usual weekly quests, exotics, and legendary gear. Not only are these quests required to purchase a second fated engram, but they’re necessary to acquire legacy exotic gear from the Tower kiosk. Players can earn a new cipher by completing strikes and winning crucible or gambit matches. Gain bonus points for playing with clanmates or finishing more challenging activities.

Xur continues to sell even more gear outside his usual content. In addition to his normal exotic gear, Xur now has Legendary Weapons and Armor for sale in exchange for Legendary Shards and Glimmer.

Exotic Armor

Vesper of Radius – Warlock chest armor

The formerly troublesome Vesper of Radius is in stock this weekend. It is a subclass neutral exotic that enhances the Warlock’s Rift ability. Planetary Torrent releases an arc shockwave when the rift is first cast and recharges it faster if the player is surrounded by enemies.

Even after being buffed last year, the item still isn’t quite top tier, though some players have managed to get the most out of it with a few tricks. The stat roll is okay this week, with Recovery and Intellect being particularly noteworthy.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +7
  • Resilience +9
  • Recovery +16
  • Discipline +2
  • Intellect +18
  • Strength +9

Gemini Jester – Hunter leg armor

Just recently on sale a few months ago, the Gemini Jester are back once again. The intrinsic perk Misdirection causes nearby enemies to become disoriented and temporarily removes their radar after the Hunter dodges near them.

While this isn’t a top tier exotic, though they can be fun to use in PvP against other players. The range of its Misdirection effect is larger than many think and could very easily mess other players up who are not ready for it or perhaps on the other side of a wall even. Keep in mind that this perk can also be a liability as it will trigger the Titan’s One-Eyed Mask perk Vengeance. While the stat roll is interesting this week, giving high makrs to Mobility, Resilience, and Discipline, players may not want to sacrifice other stats like Recovery. Either way, it’s not neccessary to pick up.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +18
  • Resilience +14
  • Recovery +2
  • Discipline +16
  • Intellect +2
  • Strength +13

Aeon Safe – Titan gauntlets

While these were an easy pass in years past, the Aeon Cult set of exotics have been reworked to making them more valuable and giving each one more of a role-based mechanic. While they’re still not top tier gear, they’re infinitely more useful than they were, even being valuable on difficult activities like Nightfalls.

Instead of a unique perk, this armor now has specific Aeon mods that can be equipped. Sect of Force is for damage dealers, temporarily increasing player reload speed and weapon swap speed after rapid precision hits. Taking down a champion or boss also gives nearby fire team members a burst of grenade and melee energy. Sect of Vigor gives the player class energy when teammates die, then gaining full class energy after reviving. When nearby players cast their super, allies gain a burst of healing. Finally, Sect of Insight has a chance to drop an orb of power after precision weapon takedowns. When using a finisher on an elite enemy, special ammo is dropped. Using a finisher on a boss or miniboss, heavy ammo drops instead.

Arc Enhanced. Stat Values:

  • Mobility +9
  • Resilience +4
  • Recovery +19
  • Discipline +7
  • Intellect +13
  • Strength +9

Exotic Weapon

Originally introduced inside of the Forsaken expansion, Bungie went ahead and made this item a pre-order bonus for those who pre-ordered Shadowkeep before it launched. The Two-Tailed fox is a rocket launcher that fires two elemental rockets, one void and one solar. Better yet, these rockets can track the same target. The void rocket also suppresses the target while the solar one does damage over time.

While this is a fun weapon to use, it’s not going to challenge the current go to heavy exotics especially the Gjallarhorn. It certainly has its uses in certain game modes, but isn’t a required purchase this week.

Additional perks:

  • Confined Launch
  • High Velocity Rounds
  • Composite Stock

Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale Rolls

Since Season 16 removed the Presage and Harbinger exotic missions, Xur is also selling both Hawkmoon and Dead Man’s Tale with randomized rolls. Players should visit him each weekend as he’ll be carrying different rolls.

Hawkmoon Rolls:

  • Hammer-Forged Rifling
  • Alloy Magazine
  • Snapshot Sights
  • Textured Grip

Dead Man’s Tale

  • Full Bore
  • Light Mag
  • Fourth Times the Charm
