Destiny 2 players have discovered a method that lets them exploit the game’s Commendation system. The title’s newest expansion, Lightfall, introduced a way for fans of the shooter to reward each other. Commendations in Destiny 2 allow players to praise one another after getting through a session together.
It is easy to hand out Commendations to others after gaming with them. Destiny 2 players simply select someone else on the end-of-activity screen after a match and then choose which of the numerous awards they want to hand out. While Commendations are meant to be a way to show that a gamer is skillful and helps provide for their teams, some have found a way to exploit the system.
A new cheese method has been found that allows players to amass Commendations, which is done outside of the Lightfall expansion for Destiny 2. Gamers have to choose the Wellspring activity from the Witch Queen expansion and form a group of up to 6. Then, all of the players have to go into the game with a grenade or rocket launcher at the ready, as the weapons are one of the most important aspects of the farming method.
Once the party members have loaded into the activity, they have to all blow themselves up. This will then let those players reward each other with Commendations. It is better to have as many members as possible in the group, though players will be rewarded fewer points over time if rewarded by the same people. Despite this, Commendations can be racked up rather quickly if farming in this manner. It essentially ruins the point of the new system in Destiny 2, as it allows gamers to rack up the rewards without truly earning them.
Commendations can be separated into four different categories: Ally, Fun, Mastery, and Leadership. Each of these have a number of subcategories, giving players many different types of rewards to hand out to others. This includes leading the group on offense, showing courage and helping push the team, and just making the match more fun overall. Not all the Commendations are available in all the modes found in Destiny 2, with some being tied to activities such as Raids, Dungeons, and Trials of Osiris. This means that if players wish to earn all the different rewards, they will have to participate in the various modes that are available in the shooter.
Destiny 2 is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
