Destiny 2 Guardian Games 2023 Armor Sets and Weapon Leaked

Destiny 2‘s next big seasonal event, the Guardian Games, is due to kick off on May 2, and a big portion of its featured batch of goodies has just been leaked via data mining. Bungie’s flagship live service title has often been the target of various data mining efforts, and many times they ended up revealing upcoming loot, events, quests, and other assorted items well ahead of time.

In fact, 2021’s Destiny 2 Guardian Games leaked in their entirety, with the data miners going so far as to scrape information for individual challenges, bounties, and progression systems, giving players a good look at what to expect from the event. Bungie has had better luck with Guardian Games 2023, with the event remaining mostly a mystery, except for its unique armor sets and the new weapon.

As Destiny 2 players get ready for Guardian Games 2023, which will run in May, data miners have gotten to work to show everyone what sort of armor sets and weapons Bungie may have in store this time around. The selection of new loot seems to follow the usual Guardian Games formula, with a new sports-themed armor set available for each of the three character classes, a unique class item, and a new weapon. The good news for fashion-minded players is that the new armor appears to be almost fully customizable, whereas some of the previous sets had large uncolorable portions.

The unique class items will, as usual, reflect the status of the ongoing Guardian Games festivities. Each item has a large metal portion that changes materials between gold, silver, and bronze, depending on which class might be winning at the time. Since the event-themed armor sets come with their own, more customizable class items, however, some players may end up preferring them over the comparatively flashy celebratory items, as was the case during Destiny 2‘s Guardian Games 2022.

As for the new Guardian Games weapon, it seems that Bungie has chosen to feature another primary this year: an Omolon scout rifle that shares geometry with the fan-favorite Hung Jury SR4. It’s likely that some of its features will set the weapon apart, however, and it’s possible that Bungie may offer a highly potent set of perks to go along with it. With a bit of luck, it won’t suffer the same problems as Destiny 2‘s Guardian Games SMG did.

While the featured leaks certainly look and sound fairly legitimate, it’s worth remembering that some Destiny 2 data miners have faked leaks before. Specifically, this happened when word came out that Bungie was allegedly planning to release an optional Destiny 2 subscription service, only for the original source of the rumor to say that it was all faked and issuing an apology over the resulting fallout.

Destiny 2 is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
