Dead Space Remake Hosting Livestream This Week

Motive Studio announces its next developer livestream showcasing some of the art for the upcoming Dead Space remake.

The team behind the upcoming Dead Space remake, Motive Studios, has announced it will be hosting another developer livestream this week. Fans of the Dead Space franchise hoping to finally get a peek at the visual side of the remake won’t want to miss out on this inside look.

The Dead Space remake was initially announced in July 2021 and is helmed by Motive Studios, the developer most notably behind Star Wars: Squadrons. The original Dead Space was released in October 2008 and was critically acclaimed due to its extremely atmospheric art design, heart-pounding survival horror gameplay, and mysterious sci-fi horror story. Since then, the franchise has expanded into sequels, spinoffs, comics, novels, and even an animated film, Dead Space: Downfall. Widely considered one of the best horror games of all time, it’s no wonder that a modernized remake is highly anticipated.

The team at Motive has been fairly transparent during the development process thanks to several livestreams touching on the development process. Motive’s next developer livestream is shaping up to be one of the most interesting ones yet, as it will be focused on the Dead Space remake’s graphics and art. Entitled “Crafting The Tension,” this livestream will likely give viewers a first look at some more of the visual updates being made, which is obviously one of the key aspects of any game remake. Announced on the official Dead Space Twitter account, the developer livestream will take place on May 12 at 10 AM PT on both YouTube and Twitch.

Motive’s previous developer livestreams have revealed many interesting aspects of the remake. A particularly interesting system, the ALIVE System, was the subject of one such livestream focused on the game’s audio system. Dead Space‘s ALIVE system dynamically controls the sound of Isaac’s breathing, heart rate, and dialogue in order to be especially immersive. Motive also touched on its audio occlusion system which aims to realistically emulate the way sound is projected through an environment, ensuring that the Dead Space remake will have an especially terrifying soundscape.

The Dead Space remake is expected to be released sometime in early 2023 according to Motive. This remake will be part of a recent golden era of game remakes as numerous classics have been the subject of remakes lately such as Final Fantasy 7, Half Life, Resident Evil 2, and the upcoming System Shock remake.

The Dead Space remake is slated to release in early 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
